Firstly, its an excellent parody of Apple’s (already heavily parodied) product ads. Secondly, it uses digital catch-phrases like “original touch interface”, “eternal battery life” and “loads instantly with zero lag” to remind us that traditional mediums like print are sometimes more engaging, effective and compelling than their digital counterparts. "Ad Retargeting

Facebook pioneered advertising based on social signals (clicking “Like us on Facebook”). Recently they’ve embraced old-school ad retargeting too. Ads are popping up in news feeds and sidebars not just based on Likes, but also because of other websites users visited in the past. Twitter recently announced a similar move. Ad retargeting has been in the marketer’s toolkit for years. As ad targeting gets more sophisticated, in theory this will create a better ad experiences for everyone: the right message to the right audience at the right time. Marketers will also face increasing consumer backlash against stalking. I’d love to hear your thoughts on where we’re headed with ad retargeting and customized advertising in general.

C'est parti. Lazare. Timetosignoff. "The Future Of Advertising. August 18th, 2013 • advertising • 22 Comments One of the more memorable scenes from the 2002 movie Minority Report was a dystopian view of advertising in the year 2054.

"The Future Of Advertising

The protagonist, John Anderton, walks through a mall, where retina scanners match his identity with purchase history so that billboards can pitch personal ads to him as he walks by. Consumers have been dreading this and marketers have been salivating over this ever since. We won’t have to wait until 2054. Much of the technology is already here. A marketing firm called Renew caught flak last week in London for using WiFi-equipped recycling bins to track all the smart phones that passed by. Renew has referred to these MAC addresses as “cookies” for the offline world. While Renew pulled back from the trial, there will be more experimentation in personal advertising ahead.

As with any new technology, the opportunity is in how the marketer wields it. I’m interested in your thoughts on where marketing and advertising is headed. « Les Tontons flingueurs » en quelques répliques culte.
