http://markstoutphotography.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/the-time-magazine-cover-photo-ripoff/ When this stock photo appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, the photographer was bouncing off the walls with the thrill of having made the cover of a major magazine. He posted the cover and his elation on Model Mayhem, a networking site for models and photographers, and received dozens if not hundreds of comments congratulating him on his “victory.” His sense of accomplishment was short lived. The problem here is that Time Magazine, who from the reports usually spends in the neighborhood of $3000 for its covers or about $1500 for a stock photo cover, licensed this image from iStock photo for a mere $30.00 – less than the coins in the jar. Time also failed to read the license well enough when downloading the photo to see the requirement that they give credit to the photographer and iStock photo for the image and failed to do so. I’m sure the wind in the photographer’s sails vanished when he and his image became a poster child for the abuses currently occurring in the industry.

http://www.photographyatthesummit.com/travel_photography_at_the_summit.html Summary Travel and photographs are the closest of relatives, thus it was natural for the Summit family of workshops to create a new workshop in travel photography, in conjunction with the Brooks Institute , in one of America's most beautiful locations -- Santa Barbara . Today, travelers, both amateur and professional photographers alike, find more and more markets for travel photography. And even in strange economic times, the intrigue of travel remains strong and there are growing opportunities everyday.

How to Price Professional Portrait and Family Photography? | MCP Photoshop Actions and Tutorials Blog for Photographers

http://www.mcpactions.com/blog/2009/10/12/how-should-i-price-my-photography-words-of-advice-from-jodie-otte/ As a general observation, I am shocked at the low prices of a lot of portrait photographers – especially new photogs, and I hope this isn’t offensive to anyone, but what is more important than your photography, is your business skills when running a business. This industry is completely saturated with underpriced photographers – many talented. Think of this — the stats are something like 95% of all photography businesses fail.
http://photofocus.com/2010/01/26/pricing-professional-weddingportrait-photography-resources-and-ideas/ First, I want to say thanks to the literally hundreds of people who contacted me about yesterday’s post, So You Call Yourself a Professional . I received more than 300 responses by email and hundreds more messages on Twitter. Only three were negative and surprisingly, two of those three were even civil.

20 Books to Read Before You Shoot | Pixiq

One of the great things about lists like this is that they’re personal. Well, they wouldn’t be much use to anyone if they weren’t, would they? So, being personal means a license to be opinionated, one of life’s little luxuries. It means being able to dismiss things you don’t like, whatever anyone else says about them, and including things that no-one ever heard of. http://www.pixiq.com/article/20-books-to-read-before-you-shoot
