Two races, two pole positions. That’s Lewis Hamilton’s record for McLaren so far in 2012 after he set the fastest time (1:36.219) in qualifying tonight at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Proving the McLarens are the team to beat in quali Jenson Button (1:36.368) locked out the front row for the Woking-based team. And in his best qualifying result since his comeback Michael Schumacher (1:36.391) wound back the clock to qualify in the top three for Mercedes AMG. Schumacher was sitting on the front row for a while, too, until Button knocked him off at the death. Mark Webber (Red Bull; 1:36.641) once again qualified ahead of teammate Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull; 1:36.634).GTSPIRIT - Daily Supercar and Tuning News

And so it comes full circle. In 1989 Mazda launched the template for the modern roadster, the MX-5 Miata . It was so pure in formula that the Japanese model name was simply “Roadster,” a tribute to British and Italian droptops of yore. Except they weren’t really of yore. Alfa Romeo’s Spider was still clutching onto the segment for dear life with technology that was three decades old, and yet somehow that was the US market’s roadster of choice. The rise of the Miata ushered in a new era of top-down two-seaters like the BMW Z3, Porsche Boxster and Mercedes SLK, driving the final coffin nail into the very roadsters that inspired it.Lincah.Com - Car Models, News, Pictures, Price and Specification

Yes, Infiniti has indeed made a habit of teasing the masses with exotic and eco-friendly concepts at some of the world's largest auto shows over the past few years, notably with the Emerg-E and Essence Concepts. But, unlike those rolling showcases, the automaker claims its latest reveal, known rather cryptically as the LE Concept, will hit dealerships within the next two years in nearly unchanged form. According to Infiniti, the LE Concept boasts a 24kWh lithium-ion battery made up of 192 cells, positioned under the passenger compartment floor. For those keeping track, this sounds like the same battery used in the Nissan Leaf . The 100kw electric motor, however, is upsized for this application.

Consumer Reports deals in trust – particularly when it comes to vehicle testing. Unlike other automotive outlets, CR puts its money where its mouth is, purchasing its test cars from dealers to ensure that it’s getting the same car, and the same level of service, that an average consumer would get. But in a recent test of the $107,000 Fisker Karma, Consumer Reports may have tipped its hand with a blog post. The publication was putting the Karma through its initial battery of tests earlier this month when the plug-in hybrid displayed a fault on the dashboard.

Beginning a discussion about America’s most well-known street circuit is a lot like navigating it, it’s best to just dive right in blindly and, with any luck, you’ll arrive safely at the apex. Although still one of the toughest stops on many series’ tours, Long Beach has changed a lot since 1975, both the city [...] A new season – and new surroundings. It’s been a long time since my last blog on Speedhunters, but don’t think I have been lying on the sofa since the Dubai 24 Hours back in January! I’ve been busy preparing for the start of the main racing season and also having some fun on frozen [...]
