Borderlands 2

D Many gamers really like big, wacky guns and characters that get to use them. If that includes you, look no further than Borderlands 2, the zany sequel to the great hit from Gearbox. It’s a mix of RPG and shooter and it keeps the series alive with a lot of great storytelling and action.

And there are guns, thousands and thousands of guns.

Best of Borderlands 2 is that it has a story most gamers will care about and will want to see through; it isn’t just a “shoot everything that moves” game. It has expanded its cast of oddballs and vixens to bring you lots of competitions and slapstick that makes the whole thing just a lot of fun to play. Borderlands 2 is about as far away from a serious game that you can get on the Xbox 360.

The game has retained a racy feel but has improved with better graphics, a shooting engine and 3-player co-op support that can make blowing things up a group experience. It also has more downloadable content and extras than anything else on our list. These keep it playable long after you’ve finished the main storyline. However, if DLC isn’t your thing, the game still has great replay value – probably only behind Skyrim on our list.

It gives you an expansive world to search through and murder the denizens of, all in search of Handsome Jack. Without giving away the story, Borderlands 2 ties up the ending of the first game (which wasn’t really an ending or much of an explanation of what was going on) with a quality story that will hurt your heart and really make you want to get the bad guy.

Best Fit: Gamers that like guns and dark humor. This really is a game that will give you plenty of laughs and plenty of things to shoot with as many guns as you can dream up. It’s also a great game to play with friends, whether it’s tackling missions, shooting things or trying to blow up each other - Check out the game cheats on my blog. Think Halo with a wicked smile.

Bad Fit: If you’re looking for an easy game, you’re going to be disappointed. Borderlands 2 is a gritty fight the whole way through because you’re on a mission to kill the toughest things around, and you are most certainly not the toughest. If you’re not a fan of guns, skip it. Also worth skipping if your humor is on the light side of things, Borderlands 2 can get rather dark and may leave a bad taste in your mouth that takes away from the fun.
