October 27, 2015 The traditional TV channels business is entering a period of flux, according to new analysis from critical information and insight source IHS.
“The core concept of the channel is fragmenting, as audience behaviour is changing and broadcasters are adapting to meet evolving viewer needs,” said Ted Hall, research director at IHS Technology. “The traditional linear channel will be around for a long time to come, but it will become increasingly marginalised by a plethora of online services, from catch-up TV to TV Everywhere, pay-TV channels’ streaming offerings and YouTube multi-channel networks.”

Filefactory, Depositfiles and many of the other top cyberlockers have seen an unprecedented surge in traffic in recent days, showing that people haven't stopped sharing even though the authorities have closed one of the main players in the business. EyeTrackShop, a startup that runs eye-tracking studies for advertisers, helped Mashable find out by applying its technology to the profile pages of popular social networks. The study used the webcams of 30 participants to record their eye movements as they were shown profile pages from Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Flickr, YouTube, Klout, Reddit, Digg, Tumblr, Twitter, StumbleUpon and Pinterest at 10-second intervals. What participants looked at on each page and in what order is recorded in the images below. It's not a perfect study.
