To the best of my knowledge Otus’ work graced the cover of only a single issue of Dragon , number 55. ( Email me if you know of more!) Notice how Otus takes a fantasy staple (hero meets wizards, who deploys dragon* against him) and turns it into something unique. Otus seems to use two general types of wizards in his works: a more stock guy in a robe and this little fellow. I call him the Bald Jester. http://jrients.tripod.com/otus/otus.html

Mythmere Games

December 22, 2009 – Brave Halfling Publishing, Black Blade Publishing, and Mythmere Games are pleased to announce a new forward leap in the development of the ENnie-Award-Winning Swords & Wizardry game. Swords & Wizardry is a retro-clone of the original, 1974 edition of the well-known fantasy game written by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson (often called “0e,” for “original edition”). The Core Rules version of 0e, published by Black Blade, includes material derived from the various 0e rules and supplements originally published by Tactical Studies Rules and TSR Hobbies between 1974 and 1977. The WhiteBox version of the 0e game is based solely on the first boxed release of 1974, which was altered in many ways by the later supplements. http://www.swordsandwizardry.com/

American Stonehenge: Monumental Instructions for the Post-Apocalypse

http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/17-05/ff_guidestones?currentPage=all The strangest monument in America looms over a barren knoll in northeastern Georgia. Five massive slabs of polished granite rise out of the earth in a star pattern. The rocks are each 16 feet tall, with four of them weighing more than 20 tons apiece. Together they support a 25,000-pound capstone.

http://gloomforge.livejournal.com/12135.html OK, I know I said I was going to stay away for a few days, but I consider this an important topic and I wanted to put my thoughts together in a coherent post. I really like the Skill Challenge system in 4E, and I've been using in for months. There are people having trouble with it at the moment, so I wanted to provide my thoughts on it.
