The Science Fiction Collection [Vol.5 - 1955]
OK folks were into 1955.This is a really mixed year for sci-fi theres a couple of classics, a couple of sequels and a fair few B movies(not that theyre all bad except king dinosaur which stinks that much you could smell it in another galaxy). The 2 stand out movies of this year are This Island Earth, im still waiting for my interocitor, and the Quatermass Xperiment some prefer the bbc tv serial to the film but i must admit i like the film and it has come to be regarded as classic over the years.Theres also Tarantula! which was quite advanced in its effects for the time. Then there's Day the world ended Roger Corman's first sci-fi film as director which is 1 of my favourites (I must admit im a big fan of Roger Corman and his work over the last 60 years).OK folks we're into 1957.While it was the year that saw man's first successful spacecraft: Sputnik back down on earth it was more about quantity than quality for science fiction movies not that there wasn't some good movies, in my opinion there was, but this was the year the atom went wild and monsters were crawling from everywhere.
