When I have a free minute, I occasionally visit the forums over at the Raw Freedom Community looking for inspiration. I found just that the other day when Andy posted his recipe for a vanilla ice cream base . I mulled over the idea for a while, trying to find time to sit down and make it. I did today, and it was amazing! This ice cream is high in fat due to the cashews and coconut oil, but it’s WAY better for you than that tripe you’re buying in the grocery store. http://www.theculinarylife.com/2008/andys-amazing-vanilla-raw-ice-cream-base/

Quinoa & sesame crackers recipe at Gone Raw

*Quinoa seems to be one of the easier seeds to sprout - it doesn't take too long & I've never yet had a batch spoil on me. Rinse the quinoa seeds well, then leave to soak 2 hours in plenty of water. Rinse well again, then place in a sprouting jar or tray, and sprout for 12 hours - rinse them well again about half way through this time.
I'm so sorry to be redundant here, but I'm having a BLAST making ice cream in My Champion Juicer . Let's see, in the past two weeks, I've made these flavors: papaya, mango, coconut, strawberry, blackberry, peach, pineapple, coffee, and now, mint chocolate chip. With each creation, W and I are amazed at the consistency.

Rawfully Tempting

Apologies for this post being a few days late, but my love for LARA bars demanded several tries and multiple flavor variations before posting—I really wanted to get this as close to the real thing as possible. Whether you’ ve heard of them or not, LARA BARS are one of the very best energy bars on the market, largely because they are made from a short list of real food ingredients: nuts, fruits and spices. In addition to their inarguable yummy- ness , they boast the following assets: Unprocessed - Raw - Non- GMO - Gluten Free - Dairy Free - Soy Free - Vegan - Kosher. For comparison sake, take a look at the Lara bar ingredients and the ingredients for another apple- ish flavored bar on the market (made by Powerbar ): LARABAR : Apple Pie Flavor (from http://www.larabar.com/ )Dates, Walnuts, Unsweetened Apples, Almonds, Raisins, Cinnamon

Simple Changes - Sprouted Sunflower Seed Cheese

Greetings to everyone - I am so grateful that you are with me today for the very first installment of The Healing Feast, which has been seven years in the making! We used to think we had to do a lot to make changes in our lives, until one day we started to appreciate the cumulative effects that seemingly small actions can make. (Read more about simple changes following the recipes.) Here's an easy change to switch from dairy products to plant based protein - Sunflower Seed Cheese. Sunflower seeds have 35 grams of protein per cup! This recipe is made by soaking sunflower seeds (or a mix of sunflower, and pumpkin seeds), and blended in the blender with garlic, your favorite salt (ours is pink Himalayan), lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar.

The raw cashew cheesecake experiment

After having only minor success creating a raw blueberry pie and a strawberry cheesecake , I decided it was time to find a recipe that has already generated a lot of positive feedback. I found one on the Raw Food Talk forum, but I ended up modifying it slightly. If you are interested, the link to the original recipe can be found at the bottom of this post. http://www.rawbart.com/the-raw-cashew-cheesecake-experiment/

Karen Knowler * The Raw Food Coach: Super-Yummy Italian Flax Cracker Recipe

As per my last post, there are a whole assortment of crackers that can be made in the dehydrator from various sprouted grains and seeds, plus other, less well known about alternatives such as chickpeas and flax seeds (also know as linseed). I'm sharing one of my favourite flax cracker recipes with you today because I'm hoping that you feel inspired enough to give dehydrating a go, and, fingers crossed, that this will push you to do even greater things besides, because this recipe is fool-proof. (I know, I know... I'm asking for it!) All you need to get started is your food processor and your dehydrator with Paraflexx sheets or some baking paper. A spatula also works better than a knife for scoring the divides, but is not crucial. http://karenknowler.typepad.com/living_in_the_raw/2006/03/superyummy_ital.html

{ingredient} {recipe} Sesame Seed ~ Tahini

http://uncooking101.com/site/raw-food-ingredient/sesame-seed-tahini/ One of the wonderful things about Tahini, is that anyone with a blender and some sesame seeds can make it on their own! It’s rich, indulgent, interesting, and a cheap way to add a filling ingredient to dressings, salads, soups, and wraps. So let’s jump in! The most basic recipe for tahini is simply sesame seeds ground until soft, but unfortunately this is far too simplified and won’t work in most cases. But don’t you worry, it still is a simple process.
Put all ingredients together (except plum tomatoes) in a food processor or better yet, chop and mix by hand in a bowl. Cut a thin strip off the bottom of the tomatoes so they will easily stand up, and split them in half. You would to have two halves that can be stuffed with the medley. Make sure you do NOT cut the part where the stem comes out of the tomato ~ cut below it instead ~ and then remove the insides carefully so that the bottoms are still sealed. Another option for how to use the avocado medley — see the picture at right? All I did was scoop the medley on top of spring greens then top it all off with some oil and vinegar.

Stuffed Tomatoes with Avocado Medley

This mouth-watering recipe comes to us from Marie-Claire Hermans . My favorite part of the recipe? Where Marie-Claire advises us to lick the bowl! HA!

{recipe} Chocaramel Bar

It really does taste as creamy and yummy as it looks! By the way, this bowl is only about 2.5 inches in diameter. These are mini scoops, not full sized scoops. The flavor and texture are so rich that that you only need a little bit to feel satisfied.

Rawfully Tempting: "Peanut Butter" Fudge Ripple Ice Cream

First you need to make the crust. You need a recipient, ideally you want a round or square recipient which you can open easily and take the bottom out like in my video below. In order to make the crust you should take the ingredients from the crust (1c of almonds, 2c walnuts, 1c dates) and soak them for at least 1 hour.
