At the midway point in 2012, Adele's sophomore album is the year's biggest seller in the U.S. 21 has sold 3.69 million copies according to Nielsen SoundScan; the only other album to come close to Adele's sales is Lionel Richie, whose album Tuskegee sold 912,000 copies. Meanwhile, "Somebody That I Used to Know," the hit single by Gotye, has sold 5.5 million copies, making it the biggest of the year so far in the States.
