Postcolonial Studies. Critical Inquiry. Global Options. Global Options, a nonprofit organization founded in 1986, is committed to research and education in the public interest. We share the general goals of community and professional groups working for the development of new, cooperative relations at the world and national levels. Among these goals are nonmilitary solutions to international conflicts, an equitable distribution of global resources, and a commitment to overcoming inequalities based on skin color or gender.

Within this broad framework, Global Options examines the political culture that reinforces inequalities between North and South, the persistent legacies of the Cold War, and political and economic injustice within the United States. In particular, our projects probe the assumptions underlying U.S. interventions throughout the world and domestic expansion of the military-industrial complex in the post-Cold War context. We invite participation through our projects and our Associates program. Third World Quarterly. The Hedgehog Review. Current Issue Summer 2017 (19.2) The accelerating urbanization of the world can be viewed as either the hope or the bane of our global future.

Yet at a time when more than half of the world’s population inhabits cities and so much thought and study have been devoted to the challenges and possibilities of urban life, surprisingly little attention is paid to the crucial purpose and meaning of cities. Recovering the cultural dimension in thinking about the future of our cities may be the best way to make them the solution and not the problem. The Journal of Critical Globalisation Studies is the GSA’s partner journal. The Journal of Critical Globalisation Studies is a fully peer-reviewed, open-access, academic journal that invites contributors to challenge dominant ideas of globalisation.

The journal seeks to bring cutting edge theoretical and critical reflection to bear on dominant and/or mainstream debates within the study of globalisation. Rather than exploring globalisation in solely economic terms, the journal is an attempt to understand globalisation from a variety of different and overlapping perspectives: economic, political, philosophical, cultural, geographical, social, and historical, amongst many others.

To this end the journal encourages contributions from writers and disciplines that are not commonly associated with the study of globalisation, having already published pieces from researchers working in theatre and music departments.
