Scientist and theologian Alister McGrath has a new essay over at Christianity Today, " Augustine's Origin of Species ." Knowing how Augustine has often been co-opted by Darwinians as a proto-Darwinist, I came to this article rather skeptical. But I was delightfully surprised. McGrath notes that Augustine's dominant image of the natural world's relation to God is that of a "dormant seed." As McGrath explains:

How I found God and peace with my atheist brother: PETER HITCHENS traces his journey back to Christianity | Mail Online

UPDATED: 14:25 GMT, 16 December 2011 During his teenage years and early 20s, Peter Hitchens lost his faith and rebelled against everything he had been brought up to believe in. Here, in a moving and thought-provoking account from his controversial new book, he describes his spiritual journey back to God - and the end of his feud with his brother I set fire to my Bible on the playing fields of my Cambridge boarding school one bright, windy spring afternoon in 1967. I was 15 years old. The book did not, as I had hoped, blaze fiercely and swiftly. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1255983/How-I-God-peace-atheist-brother-PETER-HITCHENS-traces-journey-Christianity.html#

BBC - Religions - Christianity: The Trinity

http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/beliefs/trinity_1.shtml A difficult but fundamental concept within Christianity, the Trinity is the belief that God is three separate persons but is still a single God. The Trinity is a controversial doctrine; many Christians admit they don't understand it, while many more Christians don't understand it but think they do. In fact, although they'd be horrified to hear it, many Christians sometimes behave as if they believe in three Gods and at other times as if they believe in one. Trinity Sunday, which falls on the first Sunday after Pentecost , is one of the few feasts in the Christian calendar that celebrate a doctrine rather than an event. Christianity adopted this complicated idea of God because it was the only way they could make sense of One God in the context of the events and teaching of the Bible .

Probe Ministries - Probe Ministries

http://www.probe.org/site/c.fdKEIMNsEoG/b.4213839/k.AF17/Probe_Ministries.htm A key verse for our ministry at Probe is 1 Peter 3:15 where Peter writes, "Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence." I want to encourage you to make this verse a motivator for your own walk as an ambassador for Christ. You might say, "I am not equipped to make a defense. Surely, this verse is talking to pastors and people like the researchers at Probe."
