A School Without Walls. We have started something that we can not control. Students are gradually assuming more responsibility and ownership for what they learn and how they learn it. This is a good thing, but like splitting an atom inside of a cardboard box, there is no hope of containing its power and potential. Yet, by and large, we stubbornly cling to a traditional school system, attempting to control student learning in the confines of a specific space, time and method.

Here are three reasons (there are many others) that, as educators, we must open the “cardboard box,” extending student learning beyond our classrooms, schools and communities. (1) We are not the experts. Regardless of how good we might be at our jobs, I dare say that when it comes to almost any teachable concept, we can find someone in the world who knows more about the topic than ourselves. . (2) Relevance is much easier to illustrate beyond classroom walls. (3) Knowledge leads to understanding. Cc flickr photo: by by brianfuller6385.

If the goats, lobsters and chickens of Silicon Valley aren't trembling, they should be.

The eyes of a hunter. When he's not too busy connecting people across the universe, Mark Zuckerberg is pursuing a new "personal challenge," as he calls it. It's an odd dietary direction for the 27-year-old Internet billionaire, but since he has taken to killing goats, pigs and chickens, "I'm eating a lot healthier foods. Zuckerberg's new goal came to light, not surprisingly, on Facebook. This drew a stream of emotional comments, which were a mixture of confusion, curiosity, and outright disgust.

Zuckerberg's guide on this strange journey has been a well-known Silicon Valley chef named Jesse Cool. Killing is just the kickoff. Only Zuckerberg can explain what this is really about. To start, let me give you some background on what I'm doing. #Tweetdeck Official blog : Today TweetDeck Has Been Acquired By Twitter #edtech20 | web20andsocialmediaeSafetyinXXIcenturyeducation. 33 Interesting Ways to use Twitter in the Classroom. #backupify Secure Online life using #socialmedia #edtech20 | web20andsocialmediaeSafetyinXXIcenturyeducation. #Convofy Is A Workplace Collaboration Tool using Documents And Images #edtech20 | web20andsocialmediaeSafetyinXXIcenturyeducation. 33 #socialmedia Management #edtools #sm.

Editor’s Note: This post has been re-edited and republished to mark Facebook’s 10th-year anniversary. We hope you’d still find these lessons as relevant today as when we first published it. Yup, Facebook is 10 years old! I’ve been thinking of blogging about the movie on Mark Zuckerberg and his journey to the first 1000,000 friends, ever since I saw the movie. A “MUST” watch cult movie, for sure! However, I was not so impressed by the Hollywood allegory and dramatization. The Social Network, based on vignettes from Zuck’s story focuses on his notoriety, stole the idea, screwed his best pal, short sold his mentor, rather than the key lessons that you can and should take out of life if you want to build successes the way Zuckerberg’s Social Network has done in the last 10 years.
