The A-Z Dictionary of Educational Twitter Hashtags.

Whether you’re a new or seasoned Twitter user, you likely come across confusing hashtags that probably look like a bunch of nonsense. First, What’s A Hashtag? The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keyword or topic in a Tweet. Any Twitter user can categorize or follow topics with hashtags. Those hashtags (usually) mean something and are a great way to get a tweet to appear in search results or discussion monitoring. For example, the popular #edchat hashtag is used by thousands of users every Tuesday. It makes it easy (sort of) for people to monitor what’s happening in the conversation rather than having to try and guess what topics you should search for.

By having a conversation on Twitter using hashtags, you also make it easy for any other Twitter user to join in. How To Hide Your Hashtag Chat From Followers When having a Twitter #hashtag chat, if you want to avoid overwhelming your followers, start any tweet you want to “hide” with @HideChat or (one character shorter) @HideTag . What if the Secret to Success Is Failure?

Photo Dominic Randolph can seem a little out of place at Riverdale Country School — which is odd, because he’s the headmaster. Riverdale is one of New York City’s most prestigious private schools, with a 104-year-old campus that looks down grandly on Van Cortlandt Park from the top of a steep hill in the richest part of the Bronx. On the discussion boards of UrbanBaby.com, worked-up moms from the Upper East Side argue over whether Riverdale sends enough seniors to Harvard, Yale and Princeton to be considered truly “TT” (top-tier, in UrbanBabyese), or whether it is more accurately labeled “2T” (second-tier), but it is, certainly, part of the city’s private-school elite, a place members of the establishment send their kids to learn to be members of the establishment. Tuition starts at $38,500 a year, and that’s for prekindergarten. Randolph, by contrast, comes across as an iconoclast, a disrupter, even a bit of an eccentric. For Levin, the next step was clear.

Cantadores de Redondo. Create-a-Story. By Craig Gill Age Range: 7 to 11 This resource can be used to help children who may lack ideas during creative writing lessons. It consists of four charts, which contain 81 characters, 81 places, 81 situations and 81 objects. WARNING - some of them are a little gruesome! The downloadable resources can be found here This should be enough for even the most unimaginative child to create at least one or two stories! How to use the charts. 1) Write down any two figure number (example: 58) 2) Using the first chart (Characters), find the square which is 5 across and 8 down, and write down the word/phrase in this square (example: the prince of the Gypsies). 3) Choose two figure numbers for the other three charts, and find the appropriate squares (example: "an attic in an old house", "a death trap", and "a tape recording"). 4) Weave a story around those four ingredients.

Variations: 1) Write down two numbers and use these forwards and backwards, e.g. 25 and 52, 81 and 18. Welcome. Maths Links. Theodore Zeldin: The Art of Conversation « Perfect Path. If you want to gain trust in your profession, conversation is the best way to achieve it. Nowadays we do much more talking than we did in the past but we haven’t studied conversation. Talk is different from conversation. In the beginning, people were scared to talk, it was dangerous to say the wrong thing, or to say what you think.

But if you look at how people did talk when they started, you find that they are influenced by their social context. So people said what they thought other people would want to hear, which of course meant that nobody actually knew what you thought. We’ve now invented different types of talk: scientific talk – a pared down, unemotional, rational talk; academic talk – essentially argumentative a battle in which one side won and the other shut up; separation of the sexes – women encouraged not to talk to eat separately. Now a new kind of conversation – who it is you keep company with – a social activity not just the exchange of words. Like this: Like Loading...

WiFi networks and increasingly sophisticated mobile phones are starting to influence how urban environments are experienced and understood. We want to explore and reveal what the immaterial terrain of WiFi looks like and how it relates to the city.

It is made by Timo Arnall, Jørn Knutsen, Einar Sneve Martinussen. "Uh-oh," is the reaction we can imagine Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had when watching today's unveiling of the eagerly awaited Apple iPad tablet. The new Apple device looks, at least upon first glance, like it will completely eat Amazon's lunch.

In fact, Steve Jobs even eulogized the Kindle in his unveiling. "Amazon’s done a great job of pioneering this functionality with the Kindle. We’re going to stand on their shoulders and go a little further," he said while unveiling the iPad's iBook e-reader software. But is the Kindle really dead? Amazon proudly proclaimed the Kindle as the number one selling product on Amazon.com, with a huge banner on their home page today. Can it really be all over so fast? Here are four reasons why the Kindle is dead, and four more why it might still have some life left in it.

Marilyn Sites in LA. Thanks to Joe Johnson of Michigan for suggesting this page on my site! If you are ever in Los Angeles, California, and want to visit some of the Marilyn sites there, like Westwood cemetery, her Brentwood home, or other places where she lived or frequented, I have provided this page to help you plan your tour.

For each location, I have provided a map of the area. Click on the SHOW MAP links to see the maps. There are many such sites in LA, and since I have just started on this page it is by no means complete. And now, here are some of the Marilyn sites to visit in LA… No Marilyn tour would be complete without a visit to her crypt at Westwood. Another must-see location is Marilyn’s Brentwood home… the only house she ever owned, and of course, the place where she died on August 4, 1962. Be aware that the current owners of the house do NOT appreciate Marilyn fans disturbing their privacy. Marilyn’s house is at the end of 5th Helena Drive, which is a small street, almost like an alley.
