Kill mold naturally. Rid your home of mold and mildew using nontoxic and affordable ingredients that eliminate any need for a scrub brush. A proliferation of mold and mildew can be the hallmark of hot and humid summers. Though dehumidifiers help, luckily there are many natural materials that can be used as a spray to kill mold and mildew. They are all an excellent substitute for less environmentally safe bleach. Tea tree oil, an essential oil found in most health food stores, is expensive, but nothing natural works quite as well for mold and mildew. This broad spectrum fungicide does have a strong smell, which usually dissipates within days, so use the following recipe on moldy ceilings, musty bureaus and rugs or moldy showers. Combine 2 teaspoons tea tree oil and 2 cups water in a spray bottle, shake to blend, and spray on problem areas. Grapefruit seed extract is also expensive, yet effective, but unlike tea tree oil, it is odorless.
For light stains, dilute the vinegar with an equal amount of water. Everything sewing/how to/pillowcase dress. I have already enlarged the templates for you. The smallest one is the original template mentioned in the article that you had to enlarge 150%. All you need to do is print it out and cut it out, on the outside edge of the black line of the pattern as I had to take a black marker to edge it because my paper was white, so the pattern was defined. I made one other one a little larger, because the original was for all sizes, and it was kind of snug up under the armpit for some sizes. I marked on them the sizes I use each template for.

Amigurumi Tutorial 1 (learn how to crochet) | Hook and Needles: Knitting and Crochet Blog (cool stuff, techniques, and things I find) This tutorial is for all of you knitters who wish to learn how to make amigurumis. In the first part of this tutorial I’ll go over the basic crochet techniques you need to master.
I know most people are visual learners, so I’m using a lot of videos (they may take some time to load). Step 1: How to hold your yarn (make a chain too) If you are a thrower (hold your yarn in your right hand), you’ll have to learn to hold your yarn on the left. It will feel awkward, but with time it will become easier. The following video shows you how to hold your yarn and make a chain. Step 2: Single crochet, increasing and decreasing Most amigurumis are done in spirals of single crochets. In order to give shape to your creations you need to increase and decrease. And here is how to decrease: Another way to decrease is to skip a stitch, but I find that that leaves a gap.
Setp 3: Single Crochet in Spirals to make a ball There are two ways in which you can crochet in the round. Further Reading. Make Baby Stuff. I absolutely love these Jack-o'-Lanterns made from baby food containers by My Insanity - adorable! What's even better is that they are super-simple, and you probably have almost everything you need on hand--that's an award winning recipe for dollar store craftin', in my book! They'd be a great activity for kiddos (with a little help, depending on their ages), and you can use any size of jar or old vase to make them.
You have to check the My Insanity blog for a super cute black bat jar, too! Oh, and while doing some recon recently, I found that W*l-mart has spray paint in basic colors for $.97, so I can legitimately claim that you can spend a buck for spray paint... not sure if they have orange, though! There are many cold porcelain recipes available, this is the one I prefer because it gives good result and is non-toxic. Please supervise children while making or using this clay, non-toxic doesn't mean edible and pieces of cold porcelain could pose a choking hazard. Ingredients: 1 cup pva glue (white glue like Elmer's Glue All) 1 cup cornstarch 1 tablespoon mineral oil (babyoil) 1 tablespoon lemon juice, witchhazel, or clove oil (these are natural preservative that help prevent mold, optional but recommended) Directions:1.
Model as you would any other clay, metal and smooth plastic work best for me as does keeping my fingers lubricated with a little mineral oil. Keep any clay you are not using either wrapped in plastic or covered by a damp cloth to keep it from drying out while waiting to be used. How to Be Shampoo Free.
Make something new every day. Monday, January 19, 2009 Project #19 - Robot Cup and Saucer Clark and I received a whole box of china for free from a liquidating antique store. I think the owners just wanted one less thing to carry away, but I can always find a use for pottery, especially if I'm allowed to smash it or draw on it. However, this time, since I'm a fan of robots and tiny things, I'll be drawing lots of little robots on my ceramic pieces.
All of the drawings were done with a black Porceline pen. After the ink has set for a few minutes, I follow the instructions on the pen and place the pieces in the oven at 300 degrees for 35 minutes. I've made something similar before and sold them in my etsy shop. Here are a few more detail photos: Labels: craft, projects. Homemade Household Cleaners. Homemade Household Cleaners There is a lot of reasons why making your own household cleaners is a good idea. I have read a lot of information on the dangers of common store bought cleaners. The list of dangers seems to encompass everything from breathing toxic fumes, the harmful effects of the cleaners on your skin to some cleaners being carcinogenic. Aside from the health concerns there is also a financial consideration. Cleaners can be quite an expense on the budget. If you purchase a separate cleaner for everything from wiping down counters to cleaning floors, polishing and dusting, tub cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners, and the list goes on, this is a fairly large slice of the family’s budget.
You can make many of your own household cleaners utilizing some very basic and common ingredients. There are some household cleaners that are basic simple recipes. If you are wondering what this list of “basic ingredients” are, I will show you: Baking Soda Vinegar Rubbing Alcohol Mild Dish Detergent. LOTS and LOTS of SPOTS and DOTS - CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES. A while ago I tired of the seriously ugly downstairs bath and needed a fix that was cheap. Leafing through catalogs looking for ideas I realized I had what I needed right there in my hands (and on the end table, the nightstand, the kitchen table and most any vertical surface in the house). Catalogs! Twas the season and the mailbox brought more every day.Using a 1.5 inch hole punch I vandalized catalogs and magazines for months till I'd accumulated a couple of thousand dots.
I painted the walls and door then armed with a sponge brush, modge-podge and mess of circles I started a wave across the walls and built on it from there. It's a project that may never be 'done' since I continually add to it. Don't forget to VOTE!
