Manufacturing embraces the Industrial Internet of Things. The high level of interest and hype surrounding the Internet of Things is driven by the proliferation of everyday objects with an Internet connection -- everything from kitchen appliances and household electronics to clothing, vehicles and retail goods.

Manufacturing embraces the Industrial Internet of Things

This transition is truly amazing, and developing faster than anyone could have imagined. But in the world of manufacturing, our own version of IoT, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), is a logical extension of automation and connectivity that has been a part of the plant environment for decades, primarily in the area known as machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. The IIoT movement is, of course, growing and expanding at least as fast as the Internet of Things (IoT) in the outside world because smart devices and connected sensors are proliferating in the plant as well. It's conceivable that you can obtain many of the benefits of IIoT without that outside connection. Flowchart Maker & Online Diagram Software. Despite the recent economic downturn in China, its potential remains enormous, according to the IFR.

Industrial robot sales set to double to 400,000 by 2018 - Drives and Controls Magazine

The Federation points out that Chinese production industries currently use just 36 robots per 10,000 employees, compared to 478 in South Korea, 315 in Japan, 292 in Germany and 164 in the US. The IFR estimates that, by 2018, more than a third of new installations of industrial robots will be in China. China and four other markets – Japan, USA, South Korea and Germany – account for 70% of global robot purchases. “Including supporting services, we estimate the global market value in 2014 to be $32bn,” says IFR president, Arturo Baroncelli. “The main driver of this development has been global competition in industrial production.”

The automotive and electrical/electronics sectors continue to dominate the industrial robotics sector, together accounting for 64% of the market. In 2014, the global automotive industry set a new record by installing 100,000 robots – a 43% increase on 2013. PWCT. Flow Chart Maker & Online Diagram Software. 50 Ways to Get a Job. About Us. Passionate about programming - we are and we aim to share our enthusiasm and commitment every day.

About Us

IProgrammer can be summed up as: An online magazine for programmers but unlike a typical magazine that comes out once a month, or at best once a week, we publish new content every day of the week. We aim to post at least three full-length feature articles per week that provide a balance of theory and practice, tutorial and project plus comment pieces that reflect on the programming issues. We also have a rich wealth of material on the history and development of programming and computer technology.

Every week day there is a "Book Review of the Day" on a topic of direct or indirect interest to programmers. We are often asked if we could post our book reviews on Amazon. Stack Overflow. When Tesla first introduced the 3-phase alternating current (AC) induction motor in 1888, he knew that his invention was more efficient and reliable than Edison's direct current (DC) motor.

Power Quality content from Electrical Construction

However, AC motor speed control requires either varying the magnetic flux or changing the number of poles on the motor. Even decades after the induction motor gained widespread use, changing the frequency for speed control remained an extremely difficult task — and the physical construction of the motor prevented manufacturers from creating motors with more than two speeds. As a result, DC motors were necessary where accurate speed control and significant power output were required. In contrast to AC motor speed control requirements, DC motor speed control was achieved by inserting a rheostat into the low-power DC field circuit, which was feasible with available technology. These simple motor controls varied the speed and torque, and were the most economical way to do so for a number of decades.
