IANA. IETF. The Internet Society Fellowship to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Programme. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is the world’s premier open Internet standards-development body. The Internet Society Fellowship to the IETF is available to technology professionals, advanced IT students, and other qualified individuals from developing and emerging economies. Fellows to the IETF attend an IETF meeting where they are paired with an experienced mentor and are expected to make a positive contribution to IETF work. The Fellowship to the IETF helps to increase the diversity of inputs to, and global awareness of the IETF’s vital work. At the same time, the Fellows participate in the development of open Internet standards and best practices and make valuable connections with global peers with similar interests.

Fellowships are available to first-time and returning Fellows. Fellowship Award Internet Society Fellows to the IETF receive the following assistance: Expectations for the Fellows Internet Society Fellows are expected to: What are the benefits of the programme?

**SOFTWARE USED IN NETWORKING** Here I decided to discuss various products in the network simulator / emulator field. GNS3 VirtualBox Edition (Open-Source, Windows/Mac/Linux/Solaris UNIX/FreeBSD, CCIE-level) Competitor Products are many:1. Cisco IOU Web GUI (proprietary web-service, pay-per-use, CCIE-level)2. Cisco Packet Tracer (proprietary, Windows and Linux, CCNA-level)3.

(here I mix simulators/emulators and virtualizers -- anything that can help design and test virtual IP-based network, not necessarily Cisco-related) Details:2. It is funny to see, that most other OSS simulators are Linux-only, while most proprietary software is Windows-only. Such peer-review and constructive discussion is needed to better see our value, and, by extension - our weaknesses. If you know any other products / projects - let's discuss them here. Would be nice for us to add:1. New to Linux - Network engineer wants to learn Scripting. Quote: This is the key, when it comes to scripting (as with many things) the best way to learn is by doing. Also don't be afraid to google there is a decent chance that someone has already done what your trying to do so you may be able to find an example or something similar that you can take and change. The important thing is not to simply take an example and copy it, but read it and make sure you know what it does, try to work out why the original author decided to do what they did.

If you are just after automating general admin tasks you can't go wrong wrong with a borne shell compatible script. Pretty much all *nix systems (Linux, *BSD, OSX, etc..) and windows if you install cygwin will be able to run the script as long as they have all the tools you use. I would also recommend learning to read man pages as these are very helpful but can be a bit opaque at times. Best of luck and welcome to the world of doing a task once, and not having to repeat the mundanity of repeating yourself.
