I haven't gotten too far, but I thought I'd add a post here to let you know where you can build a free website, too. I have used Weebly --it's very intuitive, and you can easily upgrade to a web domain that you choose (this website is built on Weebly). I am just getting to know TEACHER BLOG IT and I'm lovin' it as well. It doesn't get any easier to quickly create a website that students can go to and get information fast.

I just set up a blogging unit for the novella Of Mice and Men--I set up blogs for all the primary characters, added a picture, and just like that I have an engaging lesson unit where students can collaborate. Based on Clark’s presentation, and the sage on the side – with mentoring as a way to learn, your performance would improve with the help of a coach. Mentoring is a perfect model for anyone learning through an apprenticeship program, whether it is traditional apprenticeship or cognitive apprenticeship, I suppose. I have reflected on mentoring in the networks and communities here. Is mentoring suitable for everyone? No, perhaps. I do not think that a personal learning mentor would be my ideal learning situation. I reckon there is a subtle difference between learning and performance. Myth 1 – People learn best by themselves, but people perform best with others. Over the last 4 years of my teaching career, I assigned daily homework, and at the start of each class I would "check", or assess, the completion of their work. The projects that I thought were amazing rich learning because they looked so beautiful when they were submitted, were actually little more than hoop jumping. It was I who designed the format, created the planning sheets, selected the format for notetaking, and provided models of finished products. Students never had to devise their own innovative procedures. Toss that idea! How can students possibly learn to develop a research project, unless they are given the opportunity to plan and develop the processes? For my grade 6 students, I've changed my approach. What I have done, is give each student a file folder in which to keep the project and on the inside cover, they are to record their process and plan next steps. During our meeting I asked questions.
