Charlie Haughey was drafted into the US Army in October of 1967. He was 24, and had been in college in Michigan before running out of money and quitting school to work in a sheet metal factory. The draft notice meant that he was to serve a tour of duty in Vietnam, designated a rifleman, the basic field position in the Army.

Untitled (from the series Smell of Tiger precedes Tiger), 2009, inkjet, 140x100cm Paulette vous fait découvrir l'univers du photographe et cinéaste lisboète André Príncipe, à travers sa série inédite Smell of Tiger precedes Tiger. Né à Porto en 1976, André a étudié le cinéma et la psychologie avant de se tourner vers la photo. Exposé dans des lieux prestigieux tels que le Encontros de Braga, Centro Português de Fotografia, Galeria Fernando Santos ou Silo, il est également l'auteur de plusieurs livres de photos comme Tunnels (Booth-Clibborn editions, London) et plus récemment Master and Everyone et I thought you knew where all of the elephants lie down parus en 2010 chez Pierre von Kleist editions, sa propre maison d'édition. La série qu'il nous présente ici en exclu s'intitule Smell of Tiger precedes Tiger et sera bientôt publiée par la maison d'édition suédoise Journal.
