Welcome friends and music lovers. Here lies the website of From the Basement - A sort of music show / labour of love produced by a small group of dedicated individuals. We shoot it all on HD video and the sound is produced by me. The whole emphasis of the show is about being artist friendly and making our bands as comfortable as possible so that they can give great performances without the usual agony of TV promo which everyone has to do but no one seems to enjoy. TV world is a pretty hostile environment for your average musician to have to walk into and bare his soul on cue.. It also doesn't hurt that a lot of the people we've filmed are friends or people we've worked with before so they trust us and know that we understand what recording music is about as well as making good TV.

Oakland metal band High On Fire just released its sixth album, De Vermis Mysteriis , via eOne Music . “Kings Of Days” was recorded with producer and Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou in Salem, MA, and the sludgy track showcases the band’s signature brawny stoner-metal style, propelled by singer/guitarist Matt Pike’s guttural vocals and searing riffs. The track is seven minutes long, which is more than enough time to convince you that it’s awesome.

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes, the indie-folk sensation that brought us “Home”, are back with a new single today titled “That’s What’s Up”- a track that from start to finish soundtracks the summer season before it has even begun. In a way, “That’s What’s Up” shows the band maturing from their days of singing lines like “cotton candy, pumpkin pie, you’re the apple of my eye”, a fact they’ve made known with their first single of 2012 “Man On Fire”, while keeping the cutesy, old soul, feel in tact. Letting the low fidelity of “That’s What’s Up” nod to generations past and give a modern take to a vintage soundscape, the band drops a subtle hint that their forthcoming record, titled Here, will be full of sweet and bouncy tunes that are both behind the times and ahead of the curve.
