Now, the utility is very small and anybody who can write a bit of code can write a similar one in an hour. Still, stealing is not nice. :) Since I can’t let this ignominious theft go unpunished :P, I’ll try at least to make this post stretch beyond the specific case and show to people who don’t know much about these sort things how they can easily recognize if a software of theirs has been stolen. In this specific case, the stolen software has been changed in its basic appearance (title, icon, version information). However, packing an application to conceal its code is a very dumb idea. The papers composing this book (like their topic) are still evolving as I get more feedback. I made extensive revisions and additions for the first edition of the book The Cathedral and the Bazaar, and expect to continue adding and revising in future editions. Even if you've heard me do the stand-up version, you may want to reread it. These papers are not `finished', and may never be. Publishing a theory should not be the end of one's conversation with the universe, but the beginning. I welcome feedback, suggestions, and corrections and will incorporate them into future versions. Open licensed software still falls under copyright and there is a great deal of effort to make sure developers are honest about where they got the code from. After reading your advice, I'm guessing I have no choice, but to release it in the Open source community.

From experience, its hard to find collaborators for any project, even something you expect people would be very interested in. That doesn't mean you have no choice in the matter.
