Empress Wei Zifu. Wei Zifu (Traditional Chinese: 衛子夫; Simplified Chinese: 卫子夫; pinyin: Weì Zǐfū) (died 91 BC), posthumously known as Empress Si of Wu (孝武思皇后) or Wei Si Hou (衛思后, "Wei the Thoughtful Empress"), was an empress during ancient China's Han Dynasty.

Empress Wei Zifu

She was the second wife of the famous Emperor Wu and his spouse of 49 years, and stayed as his empress for 38 years, the second longest in Chinese history (behind only the 42-year reign of Empress Wang, the wife of Ming Dynasty's Wanli Emperor, who came over 1,600 years later). She was the mother of Emperor Wu's heir apparent, Crown Prince Liu Ju, as well as the older half-sister of the famed general Wei Qing, the younger aunt of Huo Qubing, the step-aunt of Han statesman Huo Guang and the great grandmother of Liu Bingyi. She helped him to seize power and eventually take over the throne from Sui Dynasty by organizing an "Army of the Lady" (娘子軍), commanded by herself, in her campaign to capture the Sui capital Chang'an. Background[edit] The future Princess Pingyang was the third daughter of Li Yuan the Duke of Tang, a hereditary duke during Sui Dynasty. She was his third daughter, but the only daughter of his wife Duchess Dou, who also bore four sons -- Li Jiancheng, Li Shimin, Li Xuanba (李玄霸), and Li Yuanji. Eventually, Li Yuan gave her in marriage to Chai Shao (柴紹), the son of Chai Shen (柴慎) the Duke of Julu.

The Amazons were an entire tribe of woman warriors in Greek legend. "Amazon" has become an eponym for woman warriors and athletes. In British mythology, Queen Cordelia fought off several contenders for her throne by personally leading the army in its battles. In his On the Bravery of Women the Greco-Roman historian Plutarch describes how the women of Argos fought against King Cleomenes and the Spartans under the command of Telesilla in the fifth century BCE.[1][2] Literature[edit] Media[edit] See also[edit] Lists Related articles Further reading[edit] Alvarez, Maria. China has many varieties of armour, but the most common were of the lamellar, coat of plates, brigandine and scaled varieties. Ancient Armour: Shang to Han[edit] After the defeat of the Shang, the Zhou Dynasty used many weapons and types of equipment that originally came from the Shang. However, the Zhou incorporated some of their own different styles of armour. One type was the gé jiǎ (革甲), a sleeveless coat of animal hide formed on a wooden dummy. Chariots were used extensively during the Spring and Autumn Period. Zhou chariots were protected by leather, and sometimes came with a canopy to protect the crew from the weather, but this was probably removed before going into battle. Most of the kingdoms of the Warring States maintained large armies, numbering anywhere from 30,000 to 100,000.

Most infantrymen wore lamellar or coat of plates cuirasses. Ebony wood. Cherry wood. Basswood. Amt.parsons.edu/files/2010/01/laser-cutter-guidelines.pdf. Acrylic glass.
