Faction Paradox. Faction Paradox: The Book of the War. The Book of the War is a comprehensive encyclopaedia covering the first 50 years of the War between the Great Houses, who literally created history within the Spiral Politic, and an enemy whose identity is not as important as what they do and why.

Faction Paradox: The Book of the War

Ten million years before the outbreak of War, the Great Houses created the history of the galaxy by rooting their biology directly into the most fundamental levels of the time continuum. As a side-effect of this process, they inadvertently released the horrific Yssgaroth into the Universe, creating an empty space called the Caldera at the heart of the Homeworld. Faction Paradox (series) The Faction Paradox series is a collection of audio, prose and comic stories begun and majority-owned by Lawrence Miles.

Faction Paradox (series)

It centres on a version of Faction Paradox that is explicitly not the one introduced in the Doctor Who novel Alien Bodies. For legal reasons, Miles and his stable of Faction Para writers cannot refer directly to anything in the DWU; "TARDISes" are replaced by "timeships", Gallifrey by "the Homeworld", and so on. Moreover, the narrative of the series contradicts the Faction Paradox continuity established in the Eighth Doctor Adventures, particularly as regards the outcome of the War (known as "the Second War in Heaven" in the Faction Paradox series), the defining narrative feature of the Faction Paradox run in Doctor Who novels.
