Another Win For Flat Design As Facebook Gives Its F Logo & Other Icons A Flatter, Cleaner Look
Facebook has given its main “f” logo icon a makeover, flattening the design by removing the pale blue bar along the bottom, which gave the icon a reflective sheen/slight 3D effect, as well as moving the position of the f so it now bleeds right off the bottom. The overall effect is a simplified, unfussy and clean looking design with the f more clearly leaping out. Sometimes great albums also tell great stories – Pink Floyd's The Wall , Nine Inch Nails's The Downward Spiral – but they hardly ever get the full-on novel treatment of their own.The winning prototypes from the ‘Reinvent Payphones’ design challenge have been announced. The competition gave designers the opportunity to reimagine uses for New York City’s 11,000 public payphones. Since most people carry cell phones, their intended use has become outdated, so the challenge was to create new uses for the structure that would better serve current needs.
