Galerie de daniel widrig. Brazil by Daniel Widrig. London designer Daniel Widrig has created a wooden chair with three legs that morph into armrests and a back. Called Brazil, the design is broken down into components to be CNC-cut from laminated wood. Here's some more information from Widrig: ‘Brazil’, a limited-edition armchair designed by Daniel Widrig was launched at Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin last month. Featuring a structural bifurcation system, the chair has three legs that branch out from the floor and smoothly transform into armrests, a backrest and a seating surfaces in one fluid movement. Form-Finding The chair has been digitally prototyped, structurally and ergonomically tested and optimized through digital dynamics simulation as used in the aerospace, automotive, and biomechanics industries. Construction The chair is built from laminated wood sheets via a 5-axis CNC router. The prototyping and engineering process of the chair was a close collaboration with Filippo Moroni of the Italian company Monolito.

I can imagine the gleam in young Jérôme Olivet’s eyes, as a child watching all those super click 007 villains and their even slicker evil lairs. Museum to the Stars Sitting like a shuttle to Naboo, this design by Zaha Hadid Architects was picked to be the new Guggenheim Hermitage Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania. Zaha Hadid’s design flaunts conceptual characteristics like fluidity, velocity and lightness in a way that make the structure appear to be floating just above the urban landscape. The museums glossy, metallic surfaces are a clear indication of the future architectural language matching the cultural aims of the new Hermitage Guggenheim Vilnius Project. Ever look at macro photos of water splashes or super slow mo’ video of a droplet slamming into the surface sending ripples across a lake? There’s a moment in that 1/10 of a second when the impact creates a crater or sorts, as if you were small enough, it could neatly cup you. Inspired designer Michael Wendel created a 1/8th scale model called the Splash Lounge Chair, big enough for us to sit in. How It Was Made: The chair was sculpted at 1/8th scale using Sculpey clay.
From there, the model was cut into ¼ inch slices. These slices were scanned, blown up to full scale, and plotted to be used as a template for the full scale model. Designer: Michael L. Inside the big nose some leaf shaped baskets full of herbs and flowers hang down randomly from the ceiling creating a kind of jungle or fantastic garden with two different olfactory ways: the external one is dedicated to artificial smells, while the internal one is dedicated to natural smells, in particular to vegetal smells.

Si bien que c’est à la manière d’un ethnologue que la découverte peut avoir lieu. Une observation flottante y décèle tout de suite les signes d’une organisation humaine. Mais un regard plus attentif révèle la présence d’un principe organisateur, qui fait de cet ensemble un univers cohérent. C’est donc une sorte de communauté imaginaire dans laquelle vie et organisation de vie se pensent ensemble que découvre l’observateur. Reste à comprendre le scénario qui organise la vie qui prend place ici. Sans appartenir à une culture donnée, cette société combine des éléments familiers et exotiques, universaux et particuliers.
