The summaries cover the main policy themes relevant for the Europe 2020 Strategy. A set of key indicators has been selected for each theme which allows the different positions of the Member States to be compared. The summaries also contain general guidelines on policies that should be followed to tackle current shortcomings and hasten progress towards attainment of relevant targets. The thematic summaries complement the more detailed country-specific analysis provided in the Commission's staff working documents which in turn underpin the Commission's proposals for country specific recommendations.
