Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip
It seems that I may be a little addicted to hot cheesy dips. Last week I made a hot sweet onion dip and while I was looking for recipes for it I came across some recipes for hot spinach and artichoke dip. This new dip filled with cheese, cream cheese and mayonnaise sounded so good that I had to try it right away. But, with both spinach and artichokes in it, it is just a little bit healthier. ;) One of the things that I liked about this recipe was that I would get to use artichokes again and I had been looking forward to doing so. The last time I used fresh artichokes and this time I got to try canned ones. This dip is super easy to make; you just mix all of the ingredients and bake until bubbling and golden brown on top. Cook the Book: Cheesy Herbed Popovers [Photograph: Caroline Russock] Long before I felt comfortable baking bread at home, popovers were a part of my "fancy dinner for friends" repertoire. They were quick and easy, but also held the same magical appeal as a homemade, freshly baked yeasted loaf—at least for my college-aged buddies. A Two Bite Breakfast: Bacon & Eggs in Toast Cups * Updated post from archive: Originally posted March 29, 2009 If you where to ask me what is my favorite meal of the day without a thought my response would be breakfast! I love breakfast! I love brunch! I love bacon! Honey Sesame Chicken Somehow I have gotten on this Asian kick lately and I'm loving every bit of it. I am finding out just how easy making these meals are and they all are so yummy! I'm also pretty darn proud of myself for totally keeping to my meal plan this week. I chose dishes to make and didn't really specify a day but the night before I needed to make dinner I would choose which one to make. It worked pretty good for me that way! I came across the blog My Kitchen Snippets quite some time ago.

Salsa roja (roasted red salsa) « One Particular Kitchen I eat a lot of salsa. A LOT. I am rather notorious for this, in fact. My friend’s boyfriend once innocently asked if I had anything he could snack on — maybe some chips and salsa? Hydra's Solar-Hydrogen Power Makes Clean Water From Dirty at 20,000 Gallons a Day For the one in every eight souls around the world lacking access to pure drinking water, how about this: A solar-powered water purification system that spits out pure water, hydrogen and, just for kicks, electricity too. Could it get any better than that? The device is called Hydra, and like its many-headed mythological namesake it truly serves a multitude of purposes: As its press release notes, "imagine a single trailer-mounted device that turns scum into over 20,000 gallons of pure water a day, stores electricity better than a battery, makes medical-grade oxygen, and runs on the sun." That's quite enough benefits from one device, thankyouverymuch. It works on a very simple, long-understood principle: electrolysis. The products are exactly what you may expect: Oxygen to help with medical problems, electricity for any number of purposes, and pure water at a phenomenal rate.

Grown Up S’mores The man or woman behind the S’more is nothing short of a genius. Seriously, who would have thought to combine a graham cracker, a Hershey bar and some marshmallows? Whomever they were, they knocked it out of the sweet treat park. As with most things I bake or cook, a little something thrown in with an alcohol content, always rings my bell. Unfettered F-U-N . . . Rainbow Jelly Shooter! Rainbow Jelly Shooter Its been a whirlwind at the test kitchen. The book is progressing (crossing fingers that it is going to press in early December!), we have been working on a little something (three little somethings, actually) for Saveur.com, and about a million more actions items cropping up here and there, many of which have not received appropriate attention and are currently housed in a bin marked "anxiety provoking".

My Adventures In The Country When I heard this month’s Kitchen Bootcamp Challenge was potatoes, I was pumped. Originally, I had great plans for the sweet potatoes still in my basement from last fall, but after researching and chatting with the hubby, I decided to go with Yukon Gold potatoes instead. My husband isn’t a huge fan of sweet potatoes and I wanted to make something he would enjoy too, so that’s how I settled on this oven roasted potato recipe. Baked Cheesy Chicken Bake Today’s recipe is a cheesy baked pasta that I found over at Our Best Bites . Sara based the recipe on a Martha Stewart recipe. This yummy dish consists of a cheesy pasta blended with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, and mushrooms. Now I know the sun-dried tomatoes aren’t something most of you probably keep on had, so you could just leave them out if you like. Then just up the amount of chicken or mushrooms by 1 cup or I was thinking some broccoli or asparagus tips would also work well in place of the tomatoes. I did however really enjoy the sun-dried tomatoes in this dish but some of my family did eat around them.

Strawberry Banana Muffins I cannot tell you how excited I am to share this recipe. This bread is not just shockingly delicious, incredibly easy to make, and looks quite lovely as a little loaf. But it is also good for you. How To Make Brown Sugar Buttercream Frosting This was my first time making any kind of buttercream frosting, and it was ridiculously easy. And it was Oh My God good. We’re thinking of making another batch and just eating it as a dip with fresh fruit. Super simple and super yummy. Ingredients 1 cup milk 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1½ cup brown sugar 1 cup butter (2 sticks) 1 tablespoon vanilla 1 teaspoon salt (if you use unsalted butter)

Egg Drop New categories for me. I’m filing this under ‘kids‘ and ‘breakfast‘. Not because it’s a specific food for children, but because my baby loves to eat this (will I ever stop calling him my baby? White Cheddar Chicken Pasta Do you stand in front of your closet thinking I have nothing to wear even though its full of clothes? I do this all.the.time. It drives my husband crazy because my closet seems like clothes are exploding from it half the time and my dresser drawers are way too full when all the laundry is clean. Its frustrating to him, but he does the same thing when he looks through the kitchen, he always says there is nothing to eat. Its true that I keep very few packaged foods on hand these days; there is usually a box of crackers and some granola bars for lunches but other than that, its pretty much pantry staples. Not exactly nothing to eat, but since he doesn't cook, he doesn't see the potential.

Avocado Fries Oh dear. I never should have done this. This may be one of my biggest mistakes all year. Can’t take it back now.
