He holds a certificate in permaculture design given by the founder of the permaculture design science, Bill Mollison. Since 1995 he has specialized in permaculture education, design, implementation, system establishment, administration and community development.[1] In 1996 he was accredited with the Permaculture Community Services Award by the permaculture movement for services in Australia and around the world. Since 1985, Lawton has undertaken a large number of jobs consulting, designing, teaching and implementing in over thirty countries around the world.[2] Clients have included private individuals, groups, communities, governments, aid organizations, non-governmental organizations and multinational companies.[3] Lawton's aim is to establish self-replicating educational demonstration sites. First Steps Food Forest Permaculture Courses by Dominick ter Huurne & Inke Falkner Having found the bush block we had long been searching for, a protracted settlement period gave us plenty of time to decide exactly what we wanted to do with it. At 40 hectares the property was much larger than we had ever envisaged buying, but we fell in love with the diversity of wildlife and vegetation, seduced by the possibilities it offered. The property is located in the NSW Southern Tablelands. A small area along the south western boundary was the obvious site to establish a food forest (shaded in yellow in the above photo). Mutual engagement and exchange is the essence of CSA: the farm nourishes the people and in return people support the farm by sharing in its potential risks and benefits. Generally, the consumer’s engagement is put in place by its upfront payment and commitment for the entire season. In this effort, consumers become «sharers» of a farm. a) Knowledge and experience What is required to start up a CSA project ? b) Choosing and acquiring land Land is of course the starting point. Here are certain elements to take into consideration: -The use of a greenhouse For vegetable production projects, a greenhouse will permit you to start plants early in the spring, to be able to transplant them early in the summer. c) Labour Depending on the extent of your project or what you envision for the future, you can work single, as a family or with other people.
