Energy Tower: Power for 15 Earths? Researchers have designed a product that its inventors claim could easily produce between 15 and 20 times the total electricity the world uses today. Not only that, it could also be used as a desalination device and may be able to reverse the effects of global warming. Those are pretty big claims, but the researchers from the Technion - Israel Institute of Science seem confident that the "Energy Tower" could be a major solution to the world's problems. They've been working on the concept since 1983, and together have spent more than 150 man-years researching, designing, testing, and analyzing.

UK should lead transport welfare calls The UK’s agricultural minister Jim Paice will have the chance to support shorter times for live animal transport in the EU in a meeting next week. The issue is on the table for a meeting of the 27 member states’ farming ministers on Monday 14th May and we are urging the UK government to support calls for a maximum eight-hour limit across the EU for journeys to slaughter. The European Parliament recently issued a written declaration calling for an eight-hour limit following an EU-wide campaign that Compassion was a part of. The campaign saw more than 1 million people sign the 8hours.eu petition.

First Steps Food Forest Permaculture Courses by Dominick ter Huurne & Inke Falkner Having found the bush block we had long been searching for, a protracted settlement period gave us plenty of time to decide exactly what we wanted to do with it. At 40 hectares the property was much larger than we had ever envisaged buying, but we fell in love with the diversity of wildlife and vegetation, seduced by the possibilities it offered. World’s largest sustainable city developed in China The world's largest sustainable city, extending about 30 square kilometers, with urban living conditions has been developed in South Asian country of China. Rising from wastelands in China, the globe's biggest eco-city of Tianjin is located 150 kilometres (93 miles) southeast from Beijing that means less than an hour on the new high-speed train line. The city, designed to be around half the size of Manhattan Island in the United States, is slated to be enriched by the hottest energy-saving technologies. Designed by Surbana Urban Planning Group, the city is planned to have an advanced light rail transit system and varied eco-landscapes ranging from a sun-powered solarscape to a greenery-clad earthscape for its estimated 350,000 residents. A sustainable city or eco-city is a preplanned city to produce their own energy, food and water in a way that does not cause detriment to the world in forms such as waste, water pollution or damage to the air.

The Current TV staff has appreciated your interest, support, participation and unflagging loyalty over the years. In Denmark, a printable house (Credit: Eentileen’s Print a House project) Danish architects Frederik Agdrup and Nicholas Bjorndal of Eentileen used just a computer, a “printer” — actually, a computer numerical control (CNC) machine — and 820 sheets of plywood to build a 125 square meter (1,345 square foot) home in four weeks. Named Villa Asserbo, the home is the pilot project of Eentileen’s Print a House project. The designers are touting the process of mass-customizing houses and responsibly producing them on site. Eentileen’s Print a House process begins as a 3D model which is translated into a manufacturing template and sent to the CNC machine that then cuts sheets of plywood into pieces that can be slotted and fitted together. The architects developed their method to maximize efficiency, minimize environmental impact, and reduce construction errors in the building process.

Scientists Discover The Oldest, Largest Body Of Water In Existence Scientists have found the biggest and oldest reservoir of water ever--so large and so old, it’s almost impossible to describe. The water is out in space, a place we used to think of as desolate and desert dry, but it's turning out to be pretty lush. Researchers found a lake of water so large that it could provide each person on Earth an entire planet’s worth of water--20,000 times over. Yes, so much water out there in space that it could supply each one of us all the water on Earth--Niagara Falls, the Pacific Ocean, the polar ice caps, the puddle in the bottom of the canoe you forgot to flip over--20,000 times over. The water is in a cloud around a huge black hole that is in the process of sucking in matter and spraying out energy (such an active black hole is called a quasar), and the waves of energy the black hole releases make water by literally knocking hydrogen and oxygen atoms together.

What is CSA ? CSA is based on establishing a partnership between citizens and local farms that practice sustainable agriculture. Mutual engagement and exchange is the essence of CSA: the farm nourishes the people and in return people support the farm by sharing in its potential risks and benefits. Generally, the consumer’s engagement is put in place by its upfront payment and commitment for the entire season. In this effort, consumers become «sharers» of a farm.

The Searl Effect Generator - Ultimate Overunity? undefined Searl Effect Technology The Searl Effect Generator (SEG) is a magnetic diode, and what one may consider one of the original "Free Energy" Devices. The inventor of the technology is Professor John Robert Roy Searl of England.
