Science Daily News They are the most widely produced fruit in the world and now scientists in Japan have discovered that tomatoes contain a nutrient which could tackle the onset of vascular diseases. The research, published in the journal Molecular Nutrition & Food Research, reveals that an extracted compound, 9-oxo-octadecadienoic, has anti-dyslipidemic affects. The team led by Dr Teruo Kawada, from Kyoto University and supported by the Research and Development Program for New Bio-industry Initiatives, Japan, focused their research on extracts which tackle dyslipidemia, a condition which is caused by an abnormal amount of lipids, such as cholesterol or fat, in the blood stream. "Dyslipidemia itself usually causes no symptoms," said Kawada, "however; it can lead to symptomatic vascular diseases, such as arteriosclerosis and cirrhosis.

A classical (or non-quantum) algorithm is a finite sequence of instructions, or a step-by-step procedure for solving a problem, where each step or instruction can be performed on a classical computer . Similarly, a quantum algorithm is a step-by-step procedure, where each of the steps can be performed on a quantum computer . Although all classical algorithms can also be performed on a quantum computer, the term quantum algorithm is usually used for those algorithms which seem inherently quantum, or use some essential feature of quantum computation such as quantum superposition or quantum entanglement . All problems which can be solved on a quantum computer can be solved on a classical computer.

OPAC The Computerized Catalogue has replaced the old Card Drawer System in libraries that have been computerized. It lets you browse items by author, title, subject, class or ISBN number and a Keyword search is included as well. Another major advantage of this service is that one can browse items not only pertaining to the library from where he/she is making the search but is automatically browsing all the material that is present in all the Public Libraries (and the National Library) both in Malta and Gozo. Clients are also informed of whether the item in question is available or is currently on loan, for example. Clients can make use of the various outlets that are present at the Central Public Library and at the Regional Libraries. The Online Catalogue is available on the Web with a number of convenient features such as Renewals and Reservations.
