It seems to me that some of these illustrations depict beautiful women in classic pin-up style, but also dressed in outfits or in situations that reference BDSM, fascism, and gory violence. The women here are depicted as threatening, aggressive and even sadistic, but they're still sexy in the usual way (hourglass figures, Caucasian features, long limbs, able-bodied, etc.) I think a true subversion of the genre would be to depict non-typically pretty women (or men or transgendered persons) in the same sort of luscious, cheesecake poses.
