The Lives of 10 Famous Painters, Visualized as Minimalist Infographic Biographies

The Lives of 10 Famous Painters, Visualized as Minimalist Infographic Biographies
by Maria Popova Pollock, Dalí, Matisse, Klimt, Picasso, Mondrian, Klee, Boccioni, Kandinsky, and Miro, visually distilled. For their latest masterpiece, my friend Giorgia Lupi and her team at Accurat — who have previously given us such gems as a timeline of the future based on famous fiction, a visualization of global brain drain, and visual histories of the Nobel Prize and the 100 geniuses of language — have teamed up with illustrator Michela Buttignol to visualize the lives of ten famous painters, using the visual metaphors of painting and the specific stylistic preferences — shapes, colors, proportions — of each artist. Each visual biography depicts key biographical moments — births, deaths, love affairs, marriages, birth of children, travel — as well as notable and curious features like handedness (mostly righties, with the exception of Klee), astrological sign, and connections. cadernos afetivos: cadernos de artista Excertos do "Ensaio" de Sarah Lowe em "O Diário de Frida Kahlo: um auto-retrato íntimo", editado no Brasil pela José Olympio.

All these little landmarks of 10 abstract painters’ lives have been charted into infographic form, so you can contrast the timelines of what it takes to be an artist. The infographics, part of a project called “Visualising Painters’ Lives,” were made by the Milan-based design agency Accurat under the direction of Giorgia Lupi and Michela Buttignol. They’ve also mapped ”geographies of time“ by social media use and created a visual data column for La Lettura. “The painters’ selection was arbitrary,” the creators explained to Hyperallergic. Here are excerpts from each of the 10 artist’s infographic lives: Picasso’s numerous love affairs Miro’s impressive acquaintances

The Ephemerist | Thriving in the margins since 2002… TRAGIC SUNSHINE UPDATE: Gravity posters are sold out online. UPDATE: The GRAVITY posters are currently for sale HERE Getting to do a poster for Gravity shaped up into something I believe will stand as a milestone in my portfolio of poster work. The film is considered by many to be the best film of 2013, which is quite a tall order. The poster is a 24 x 36 inch seven color screen print on 100 lb Blu Raspberry French Cover Paper in an edition of 375. The GRAVITY Poster will be for sale at a random time on 12/4/13 HERE. In order to capture the theme of a lack of orientation in the movie, I developed the “no true orientation” concept for this illustration. To see additional photos of this poster, please check out the Flickr Photo Set. A lot of comments were made about the amount of detail in the poster, specifically in the space suits and debris, much of which was too fine to print. Previously, I had done vastly detailed posters for Pacific Rim and The World’s End. Thanks for reading this everyone.
