Forrester said most the trends they outlined last year will continue into this year, but also offered several additions. Here’s a snapshot of what they predict: The mobile/social/local combo will explode in usage but generate little revenue.2011 will be the year of the “dumb” smartphone user. Top 10 Social Media Blogs of 2011? January 24, 2011 by Olivier Blanchard I am very proud, a little surprised, and frankly a bit humbled: The BrandBuilder blog made Social Media Examiner’s 2011′s Top 10 list of social media blogs. Proud because I don’t often make Top 10 lists, and I think this is the second time I have made this one. Surprised because this blog isn’t devoted entirely to social media topics, and the competition was fierce: 300 Nominees, many of which attract a lot more readers and attention. Humbled, because some of the other nominees and finalists are pretty solid professionals.

Tesla Wants Some Engineering Cred The Roadster showed Tesla Motors can design a top-notch electric drivetrain. The Model S showed it can design a gorgeous car. Building the S is another story, of course, so now the Silicon Valley upstart wants to show it knows a little something about engineering. Elon Musk’s upstart automaker rolls into the Detroit auto show with an “alpha build” of the Model S sedan. The term is a nod to Musk’s insistence that Tesla Motors is more Silicon Valley than Detroit. That conceit aside, Tesla is talking about a hand-built preproduction car pretty close to what it keeps saying we’ll see in driveways sometime next year. Which Brands Got the Most Social Media Buzz in '10? [INFOGRAPHIC] Apple may not be down with the whole social media thing — the brand doesn't have a Twitter account or a Facebook page — but it doesn't appear to need it. A report by Vitrue on the top social brands of 2010 shows the iPhone is the top social brand, the iPad is number five and Apple itself is number seven. The infographic below, based on the third annual Vitrue 100 report, shows that Apple's not the only brand gaining social media influence, though. AT&T and Visa both led the 2010 gainers with a 45% jump. The data also show that being a consumer electronics brand is a plus, but it's a bit more difficult if you're in the fast food biz or sports. The rankings are based on the volume of discussion of the brands on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Blog - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image Is your head bleeding? Is your heart bleeding? Here's my thought (and, I say this with full disclosure that I am no IT expert and have limited knowledge of the hacking space beyond a personal interest in better understanding technology - peace and love... peace and love...), but the process of text-based passwords needs to be tossed out. It just has to happen. We're all still trying to understand what the ramifications are of this nefarious Heartbleed bug is, and what it all means.

According to the report, North America led the market since 2009 with a 41.6 percent revenue share.

It’s a big, eye-catching, alarm-raising headline, but as I dug into the story beneath the headline, I found my impression changed considerably.
