Cinnamon Bun Pie Pockets Recipe
This past Friday night was meant for celebrating. The weather was sit-out-on-the-deck-in-the-cool-evening-breeze perfection. Friends gathered from all around the city with chips and salsa and salads and popcorn and laughter and stories to share. And a very special birthday girl turned the big 3-0. Friends, meet Stacey. Read more Ever since my friends and I met for a tapas happy hour at our neighborhood Spanish restaurant a few weeks ago, I’ve had sangria on my mind. So of course, when I found myself in the fruit section at the market this week trying to decide what kind of sangria to make for our weekly neighbor night, I immediately thought of sangria. Homemade Iced Coffee "My New Addiction" It's no secret that I adore Starbucks. Adoring is one thing and affording it is a whole different story. If I ran to Starbucks every time I had the urge I would definitely be broke. To satisfy my cravings I have learned to recreate some of my favorite coffee drinks right here at home. White chocolate mocha is my all time favorite so that was so fun to make a Copy Cat Version. I really got on a buying frenzy for all the different flavored coffee syrups I could get my hands on. Recently I learned to make Iced Coffee. I saw this recipe over at Southern Plate. It was so easy to make, the coffee will need to brew on the counter for about 10-12 hours so plan ahead. If you're a Iced Coffee lover than you need to try your hand at making it yourself. Let's get started and I will show you how easy this is to make. Fill jar with water leave about 1-inch head space. Place lid on jar and give it a shake to make sure all grounds are wet. Yummy & Refreshing.

How to Make Marshmallow Fondant This time I decided to make it with those mini fruit flavored marshmallows. I had to sort them by colour first. I figured they would add a little bit of flavor to the fondant so I wouldn't have to add much flavoring oil. I use gel colours to dye my fondant but regular food colouring will work too. I also had lemon oil and coconut flavoring on hand.. oh la la the value brand (which still works fine). Step One: Take a couple of handfuls of marshmallows and put them in a microwave safe bowl. I like to make smaller batches because its easier to add the colour to the melted marshmallow than it is to work the colour into the fondant later. Step Two: Stick the marshmallows in the microwave for ten seconds at a time until the are puffed up and easily stir into a goo with a wooden spoon. Step Three: Add food colouring to the melted marshmallows until you get the colour you want. Step Four: Start folding icing sugar into the marshmallow goo until it becomes a soft and fluffy dough. Finished fondant! 1.

Six paper flowers It got into my head that I needed to make some paper flowers. I don’t know why. But I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal because the Internet is a veritable smörgåsbord of craft tutorials, and all I had to do was fire up Lappy 5000 and pick one out. About 300,000 search results later, I was no longer any more confident in my ability to make a paper flower than I was in my cat’s ability to retrieve his stupid mouse instead of staring at my hand after I throw it. There were just too many choices and although I could compare the photos, they didn’t reflect (1) how good each tutorial was, (2) how closely my flower would resemble the picture, or (3) which flowers would look nice together. Then again, I thought, if anyone is supposed to try every single one, it might as well be me. After some consideration, I decided that 300,000 might be a few too many to take on, so I narrowed it down to the six most promising and got to work. Wow, that sounded kind of racist, didn’t it? Hope that helps.

Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps When it comes to appetizer preparation, those of you who are in-the-know realize that it's actually much less time consuming to prepare a full meal than to prepare a dozen different appetizers, but because so much of the prep work can be done ahead of time, and because this promotes a much more laid back atmosphere on Christmas day, I have gone the route of appetizers for the past couple of years. (Yes, that was all one sentence.) This recipe for sweet chicken bacon wraps comes from Paula Deen. Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps 1 1/4 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts (about 4 breasts)1 pound sliced bacon2/3 cup brown sugar2 TBSP chili powder1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes. TIPS: Do yourself a favor and line your pan with aluminum foil.

How to Pipe Icing Roses I baked this spring bouquet of cupcakes for my Weekend Baker post on the Cooking Channel blog. I was limited in space and wanted to go into a bit lot more detail on how to pipe the icing roses. Creating these flowers is not at all difficult, but it helps to have some simple tricks of the trade. With a little practice and the right tools you can easily recreate these flowers. You can find my recipe for the cupcakes on the Cooking Channel Piping Icing (This recipe is easy to pipe with and it has lots of body, so the flowers will have structure and not flop over. (makes about 8 large roses. 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened 2 tablespoons shortening (This gives a little insurance that it won’t melt in your hands as you are piping) 4 cups confectioners’ sugar pinch salt 4 to 6 tablespoons cream (you can also use sour cream, which cuts the sweetness a bit) 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon extract (use an extract that is clear, so it won’t interfere with the colors you are piping) Food Coloring (Ateco #914)
