Google RO.ME › North Kingdom In the simplest of terms explaining it – “3 Dreams of Black” is an interactive music video developed in WebGL and optimized for Chrome to showcase its possibilities; written and directed by Chris Milk; based on the song “Black” from Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi’s ROME album; an album that somewhat is a soundtrack to a movie that doesn’t exist. The music serves to express a story that takes place in a post-apocalyptic landscape where the main characters are played through the voices of Norah Jones and Jack White. More specifically, “3 Dreams of Black” is Norah’s lucid dream where users can partake and gain control of her characters experience. Together with Chris Milk and Google Creative Lab we took on the role to lead the development across disciplines and serve as one unifying hub to tell the story of ”3 Dreams of Black”. Create Digital Music » Hands-on with Bloom, New Generative iPhone App by Eno and Chilvers Bloom is a new generative musical application for iPhone and iPod touch, created by Brian Eno and software designer Peter Shilvers. It’s quite simple, but if you’re looking for some soothing musical strains to float out of your mobile Apple device, this is your ticket. At launch, you’re given a choice of either using a pre-determined set of rules, or tapping in your own parameters and patterns. The touch interface lets you use your fingers to add note patterns, which then repeat and mutate. The results aren’t terribly deep – everything has a more or less similar ambient vibe, and tapping patterns in feels only barely interactive. But that said, the compositions here are really beautiful, and it’s fantastic to watch the Apple mobile morph from simple playback devices into generative, interactive computers. 15 Tutorials for Recreating Authentic Photo Effects Photoshop effects usually bring up thoughts of vibrant swirling lines and abstract pieces of stunning artwork, not to mention the not so cool Photoshop filters that have been the cause of eye-wrenching design choices for years. There are, however a range of effects that not only look great, but stay true to the traditional photographic techniques the effects originally evolved from. Here are 15 tutorials for recreating authentic photo effects such as Lomo photography, HDR and Cross Processing digitally in Adobe Photoshop. Pinhole Photography A pinhole camera is created using a small box with a tiny hole, the overall form is extremely simple with no lens. Audio Damage :: Automaton Automaton is a unique look at buffer effects, allowing you to experiment with artificial life within your DAW. With four separate effects (Stutter, Modulate, Bitcrush, and Replicate) driven by a cellular automata sequencer, Automaton is capable of adding subtle seemingly random fills and "humanizing" effects, but if you like, you can crank the sequencer up to eleven, and watch as your DAW becomes a petri dish while Automaton makes complete hay of the track you've inserted it to. Unique Sequencer: Cellular automata sequencer with host tempo-sync, five different musically useful rulesets (including a step sequencer), extensive randomization features, and a life of its own. Controllable: Master section allows extensive mixing capabilities, enabling Automaton to excel at either adding subtlety (like an occasional extra hi-hat) or complete self-generating IDM madness. MIDI Learn: Simple-to-use MIDI Learn feature for hardware control of most parameters (VST only)
