ERASE: The 'e' key erases the canvas and changes the path the shape follows. 'Aleph null' is the first and most homely order of infinity. On the PC, Firefox provides the highest framerate. A friend reports that Aleph Null performs quite well on the Mac. I like running Aleph Null at around 30 frames per second, myself. Creating Aleph Null has been part of a re-tooling process for me.

The music serves to express a story that takes place in a post-apocalyptic landscape where the main characters are played through the voices of Norah Jones and Jack White. More specifically, “3 Dreams of Black” is Norah’s lucid dream where users can partake and gain control of her characters experience. Together with Chris Milk and Google Creative Lab we took on the role to lead the development across disciplines and serve as one unifying hub to tell the story of ”3 Dreams of Black”. Create Digital Music » Hands-on with Bloom, New Generative iPhone App by Eno and Chilvers Bloom is a new generative musical application for iPhone and iPod touch, created by Brian Eno and software designer Peter Shilvers. It’s quite simple, but if you’re looking for some soothing musical strains to float out of your mobile Apple device, this is your ticket. At launch, you’re given a choice of either using a pre-determined set of rules, or tapping in your own parameters and patterns. The touch interface lets you use your fingers to add note patterns, which then repeat and mutate. The results aren’t terribly deep – everything has a more or less similar ambient vibe, and tapping patterns in feels only barely interactive. But that said, the compositions here are really beautiful, and it’s fantastic to watch the Apple mobile morph from simple playback devices into generative, interactive computers.
