About Us Who are we? LibreOffice is community-driven and developed software, and is a project of the not-for-profit organization, The Document Foundation. LibreOffice is developed by users who, just like you, believe in the principles of Free Software and in sharing their work with the world in non-restrictive ways. At the core of these principles are the four essential freedoms and the tenets of The Document Foundation's Next Decade Manifesto [pdf]. We believe that users should have the freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software that we distribute. We seek to eliminate the digital divide and empower all as full citizens, support the preservation of mother tongues, and avoid proprietary software and format lock-in. Though the members of our community hail from many different backgrounds, we all value personal choice and transparency, which translates practically into wider compatibility, more utility, and no end-user lock-in to a single product.

LibreOffice MS Publisher Import filter - young but strong baby As Sophie Gauthier announced in the language of Voltaire, LibreOffice was branched for the beta phase in view of the 3.6 release. This is a major step in order to bring the features we were working on during the last half a year to the end users. But, it is also oportunity to bring to the main codebase all the nifty nice features that were developed in feature branches and targeted for the next big release, presumably the 3.7. It is this way that the first version of our new Microsoft Publisher import filter landed to the master. And as the careful readers of this blog already know, an image speaks louder then thousand words, here are the pics: A random document from the Internet opened in Microsoft Publisher 2003: The same document opened in LibreOffice master build from yesterday: With Valek Filippov, we have a lot of fun mentoring this project. You will never regret the decision to get involved in LibreOffice.

SQLite Home Page Latest At its summit meeting in Boston on November 6, 2013, the directors of the Board of Open Source Matters, Inc., admitted two candidates as members of the organization and directors of the board: Victor Drover and Joe Sonne. Victor joined the board in August as our preferred candidate for Treasurer. His election to the officer role of Treasurer was dependent on recent Bylaws changes, which were voted on earlier that day. Following the bylaws vote and Vic's admission as member and director, in a second motion, the directors appointed Vic to the position of Treasurer. Joe Sonne (a.k.a. Joe Joomla) is a native of Toronto, Canada, and is the board's choice in the recent pool of nominees to take on the role of Capital Committee team leader. Former Capital Committee leader Mike Carson has taken on the role of Events Team leader along with Radek Suski.
