Disney’s Touché Makes Awesome Touchable Digital Interface With Tables, Water Photo by Adam Berry/Getty Images Disney might be best known for Mickey, but the company has developed a new technology that could now put it in the company of Google glasses and Apple computers. In a demonstration video, Disney Research turns everyday objects like doorknobs, tables and tubs of water into a digital interface. Researchers say the technology, which they call Touché, could lead to users answering mobile phones and doing other basic computing by simply gesturing on their own body. Touché uses a sensing circuit, which monitors changes in an electrical signal passing through an object when the object is touched by a conductive material. Researchers believe with development, the technology could get rid of numbers and screens on mobile phones as users simply interface with their own body instead.

"These energy bugs are a silent battery killer," said Y. Because conserving battery power is critical for smartphones, the industry has adopted "an aggressive sleep policy," he said. "What this means is that smartphones are always in a sleep mode, by default. Various background operations need to be performed while the phone is idle. "For example, a mailer may need to automatically update email by checking with the remote server," Hu said. To prevent the phone from going to sleep during such operations, smartphone manufacturers make application programming interfaces, or APIs, available to app developers. Related websites: Y.

How to Make Office Weapons Out of Office Supplies Wow, if you thought working at your white-collared job, sitting in your well equipped air-conditioned office, thinking that this is probably one of the safest place to be… you may just want to think twice about that. The office is a jungle. Beside having to watch your back against office colleagues who may be wolf in sheep’s clothes, you may just have to watch out for those seemingly utilitarian office supplies, because in conjuncture with other seemingly innocent office supplies, they may just result to be one of the deadliest office weapon yet. Below is an example of our favorite office supplies- binder clips, turned into office weapons. Take a few binder clips of varying sizes, turn them upside down, and clip the smaller binder clips inside the larger clips. It should look like this when the larger binder clips have clipped the smaller ones. Remove all the binder clip handles. Add another 2 larger binder clips on top of the smaller edge with a rubber band in between. stumbleupon
