Heidegger: Thinking the Unthinkable German philosopher Martin Heidegger addressed the central question of human existence full on, by examining how human self-awareness depends on concepts of time and death. His preoccupation with ontology - the form of metaphysical inquiry concerned with the study of existence itself - dominated his work. The central idea of his complex Sein und Zeit (Being and Time) (1927) could be summed up in the phrase 'being is'. Man had to ask himself 'what is it to be?' and only by doing this, and standing back from absorption into objects and other distractions, could he actually exist. For Heidegger, the constant fear of death and the anxieties of life helped man to ask this central question – the mystery of life was intimately linked to the individual's confrontation and consideration of the temporary nature of their own existence. Heidegger also felt that art, like language, was important evidence of existence, something which was a real existence rather than a mere recreation of reality.

Part of Nietzsche’s problem with history, science, and the knowledge drive in general is that these activities typically presuppose that "knowing" is possible, and that truth is more valuable than untruth, or appearance Part of Nietzsche’s problem with history, science, and the knowledge drive in general is that these activities typically presuppose that "knowing" is possible, and that truth is more valuable than untruth, or appearance. It is supposed that there is another world, one free from our perceptions, which can be known if we can find an objectifying lens through which the real nature of things, i.e. inherent properties, things-in-themselves, essences, can be understood. Nietzsche sees most endeavors concerned with discovering the truth as attempts to separate the knower from the known in such a way that they can separate their perceptions (the way the world seems) from the perceived object (an entity that has an existence free from what we bring to the word.) With this separation of the world into "the world of mere appearances" and the "real world," objects are seen as things-in-themselves, with inherent meanings that are non-revisable, objective, and universal ("The Philosopher" 133).

Growing Its Influence, Klout Gets Strategic Investment From Microsoft — And Serious Bing Integration Klout hasn’t just defied influential tech pundits, its social reputation scorecard has won them over. Now the sometimes-controversial startup is aiming at search. The startup has just signed a strategic investment and partnership with Microsoft that, on top of new funding, will create a product and business relationship with the Bing team. You’ll begin seeing Klout scores — the combined measure of a person’s influence across Twitter, Facebook and other social networks — show up in the search engine today. Meanwhile, search data in Bing will now begin contributing to Klout rankings. For now, experts will get a boost in Klout whenever they show up in “People Who Know” for queries. Klout users who have Wikipedia entries associated with their accounts will also get Klout boosts for the number of times that those entries show up and get clicked on in search results.

Free Audio Book - The Sadhana: Realisation of Life by Rabindranath Tagore By: Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) Rabindranath Tagore was a Bengali poet, philosopher, visual artist, playwright, composer, and novelist whose work reshaped Bengali literature and music in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Nebenwirkungen

The Ontological Boy 5569 Once again I’m going to try to write about the bare particular. And about time, which always screws me up. Imagine your friend gets into a Star Trek Teleporter and comes to where you are. He is, then he totally dis-integrates, and then he re-integrates. We, though, don’t really need a teleporter to pose the problem. There are so many problems here, but that is enough destruction for one sitting. Demystifying social media - McKinsey Quarterly - Marketing & Sales - Digital Marketing Executives certainly know what social media is. After all, if Facebook users constituted a country, it would be the world’s third largest, behind China and India. Executives can even claim to know what makes social media so potent: its ability to amplify word-of-mouth effects. Yet the vast majority of executives have no idea how to harness social media’s power. Companies diligently establish Twitter feeds and branded Facebook pages, but few have a deep understanding of exactly how social media interacts with consumers to expand product and brand recognition, drive sales and profitability, and engender loyalty. We believe there are two interrelated reasons why social media remains an enigma wrapped in a riddle for many executives, particularly nonmarketers. What we hope to do here is to demystify social media. In short, today’s chief executive can no longer treat social media as a side activity run solely by managers in marketing or public relations. Getting the work done: Preparing for the upcoming talent shortage – Workplace Possibilities A few months ago, I co-hosted the Five generations. One workforce. New solutions. webinar, in which we took a close look at the upcoming challenges and impacts of the 2020 workplace for employers. My co-host, Jeanne C. Meister, author of The 2020 Workplace, discussed a number of salient predictions for how our work environments will change. Specifically, she tells us the global talent shortage will be acute for a number of reasons: It is predicted that the country will have a shortfall of 7 million college-educated workers by 2012, compared with the projected need.1The relentless advance of technology will create jobs that require even higher levels of skills. The competition for talent will increase the need for more highly trained employees. A contributor to the talent shortage may be disability absences or leaves of absence (LOAs), in which highly trained employees leave the workplace temporarily or permanently due to medical conditions. 1Researchers Tally Costs of Education Failing.
