The CGI achievements of Pixar These days most people don't consider the technology that goes into a CGI movie or advert. It's assumed that the computer does most of the work and those involved simply take the accolades. But that thinking is naive, as computer graphics have evolved dramatically since the first CGI scenes were incorporated into movies and, in many ways, Pixar has always been at the bleeding edge of what was technically possible. To understand the development of Pixar's rendering technology (called Renderman, incidentally) let's go through some of their movies and explain the advancements that each contributed to each, making each production special. Toy Story (1995) The fact this could be made at all was probably the biggest innovation, but behind that was a very careful balancing act between the complexity of the images and animation, and actually getting the production completed within a reasonable timeframe. Sandy Cay, Honduras | Private island for rent on the cheap Sandy Cay, one of two unbelievably affordable private islands for rent off the coast of Utila, itself a tiny island about 30kms from mainland Honduras. Photo: MCT Lauren Viera finds her own private paradise at an unbelievably affordable price. It takes a while to sink in. A few hours pass, and it still feels surreal, as if you're merely house-sitting, borrowing someone else's wealthy lifestyle, waiting for her to return and relieve you of your time in paradise. Private paradise ... the tiny island viewed from a distance. But after a day or so, the fantasy becomes reality: You're on an island all your own, the days and nights and sand and sea are all yours, and there's no one to feel beholden to - not even the family of pelicans guarding the wooden dock in the turquoise water. All of the basics are there.

Cab Driver Does Spot-on Michael Jackson Impression I don't know how many people out there are planning on taking a taxi in Minas Gerias, Brazil in the near future, but if you end up in the area keep your eyes peeled for Jean Walker, because he can do an amazing Michael Jackson impression. Like, spot-on, summoning-him-from-the-grave accurate. And I know your first instinct is to tune out when you hear a cab driver talking -- because who wants to overhear the argument about pizza he's having with his wife on his Bluetooth -- but in this case you'd really be missing out.
