2021’s Safest Cities in America People encounter hazards every day, some serious, others rare and innocuous. We fear certain kinds more than others, though, and COVID-19 is one of the biggest concerns in 2021. A recent Gallup poll found that only 38% of Americans feel “very” confident they can protect themselves from COVID-19 while they are out in public, a sharp drop from around 51% in May. People can feel unsafe in other ways, too. No one can avoid all danger, however, and we take on a certain level of risk based on where we choose to live. Search Backwards: Reverse Directory Lookups How to Do Reverse Directory Lookups Usually, you know someone’s name and you want their contact information, but in some cases it's just the opposite -- you have contact information and need a name. Maybe you found a scrap of paper with a phone number on it, and can't remember who it was for. Perhaps you missed a call from a number you don't recognize. Or you may have someone's street address or email, but no name to connect to that info. I always like to start with free, so try a search engine search first. If you’re searching for the name associated with an email address, you can enter an email address in Facebook's search box. New Drug Tests Target the Poor A spate of new laws ties government assistance to sobriety—furthering an unfounded stereotype. A growing number of poor Americans now face a new indignity, thanks to a legislative trend sweeping through state capitols: mandatory drug tests for needy citizens. This year alone, at least 30 state legislatures (including Louisiana, Massachusetts and Illinois) have considered bills that would require people to pass a drug test to become eligible to receive welfare benefits. At the federal level, this year Sen. The state leading the new trend is Florida. While Floridians who pass are reimbursed, applicants who fail are denied benefits for a year unless they enroll in a treatment program and don’t test positive for six months (the state won’t pick up the tab for their recovery). Also on July 1, Indiana became the first state to require drug tests for unemployed people participating in state-sponsored job training programs. A February report from the Washington D.C. Bible Hub: Search, Read, Study the Bible in Many Languages IBM's Watson to offer medical advice to doctors | Cutting Edge IBM has inked a deal with health insurer WellPoint that will let the latter use the technology behind "Jeopardy"-playing computer Watson to suggest patient diagnoses and treatments. The arrangement, which marks the first time the Watson technology will be used in a commercial application, will be announced Monday, according to The Wall Street Journal. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. WellPoint hopes the technology will help improve the quality of patient care and help reduce costs. The Journal quotes WellPoint's chief medical officer, Sam Nussbaum, as saying that the project is "not about limiting care; it's about assuring the right care is given." IBM claims the Watson technology can process about 200 million pages of content in less than three seconds, which no doubt makes the system intriguing when it comes to reviewing various medical literature.
