Home Page Teachers Primary Pupils Secondary Students Events and PD Subjects - Extreme Weather No matter where you live in the world, weather is something that you are exposed to every single day. Even though weather occurs all around the world, the region you live in can have a different natural phenomenon than another geographical locations. For example, if you live in the Midwest of the United States, it isn't very likely that you'll get hurricanes but you may be very familiar with tornados. Why is it sunny most of the year in some places and rainy in other places?

15 Science Experiments You Can Do With Your Kids by Therese Oneill Time to get messy, light some stuff on fire, and use food products in ways they were never intended! Parents and teachers across the internet have found fun ways to teach kids science, and have documented the experiments for the rest of us.

Finland Will Become The First Country In The World To Get Rid Of All School Subjects In an era of technology and easily accessible information, our schools still expect from us to know everything from the books, without considering whether this is going to be what we will actually need in our professional development. How many times have you wondered if you were going to need a subjects you were made to learn because the curriculum said so? Finland has decided to change this in their educational system and introduce something which is suitable for the 21st century. By 2020, instead of classes in physics, math, literature, history or geography, Finland is going to introduce a different approach to life through education. Welcome to the phenomenon based learning!

Connect the Dots But first, they must embrace science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to build the skills that will serve as their tool set for the future. For that to happen, we must work together to ignite their curiosity and get them excited about STEM in their everyday lives. So we ask you to join us in connecting the dots between learning and life. Together, we can ignite the spark in students around the clock and around the world. Science and Technology of WWII So What is This About? Teachers, here you will find classroom lesson plans related to the science and technology of WWII. Social studies and history teachers can use these lessons to imbue science and math into their classrooms. Science and math teachers can use these lessons to bring real-world applications to their theories and concepts.

Circuits Problem-Based Curriculum: Engineering Units From Boeing And Teaching Channel The Boeing Company and Teaching Channel have been working together since 2014 to create problem-based curricula inspired by the science and engineering innovations at Boeing and informed by globally competitive science, math, and literacy standards. These modules are being released as part of a collection of K-12 education resources under development to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Boeing Company. Ten pairs of Boeing engineers were matched to ten teachers (grades 4-8) in Puget Sound, WA, and Houston, TX, to create 10 science modules. Each module is designed to be delivered in classrooms over a two-week period. These resources are intended to meet a critical need by teachers for content that integrates engineering design thinking and problem based learning – both of which are more strongly emphasized in globally benchmarked science standards (e.g., Next Generation Science Standards) that are currently being adopted or adapted by districts across the United States.
