How To Understand (and Create) A Personal Financial Statement Each Month In 5 Minutes A lot of people shy away from any talk about “finance” or “accounting” because (1) its boring (2) it involves math and (3) its hard work. Well it’s not as bad as you think. I’m going to show you how to understand financial statements in about 5 minutes. Then I’m going to give you some Excel templates to create your own. But first… Why Should You Create A Personal Financial Statement? If you wanted to lose weight, you’d have to weigh yourself right? Well if you want to get rich (or become financially free), you have to create financial statements. You are a business. If you don’t have a way to MEASURE progress and COMPARE what works and what doesn’t, then you are just wandering blindly in the dark. Robert Kiyosaki talks a lot about this, how rich people are “financially literate” and how this should be taught in schools. But that is another story. If you aren’t looking at your financials about once a month then you quite simply AREN’T serious about becoming rich. Thats it. Conclusion

It is a perilous journey, fraught with unknown dangers and influences outside your control. But if you keep your goal in sight and plan very, very carefully, getting to the top can be a most rewarding experience. The statistics concerning survival rates of new businesses vary considerably depending on who's doing the reporting. All the reasons for a business failure are too numerous to list, but they can be categorized into these major areas: Lack of Entrepreneurial Qualities Lack of Information Lack of Planning In the following chapters, we will discuss in some detail these areas and a number of others that relate closely to them. Chapter 2 includes information that will allow you to assess your own entrepreneurial qualities. Chapter 3 covers choosing your business and selecting its legal structure. Chapter 4 provides guidance on obtaining outside financing to start or expand your business. Chapter 11.

Minimum Wages and Employment: A Review of Evidence from the New Minimum Wage Research NBER Working Paper No. 12663Issued in November 2006NBER Program(s): LS We review the burgeoning literature on the employment effects of minimum wages - in the United States and other countries - that was spurred by the new minimum wage research beginning in the early 1990s. Our review indicates that there is a wide range of existing estimates and, accordingly, a lack of consensus about the overall effects on low-wage employment of an increase in the minimum wage. However, the oft-stated assertion that recent research fails to support the traditional view that the minimum wage reduces the employment of low-wage workers is clearly incorrect.
