Vincible ignorance Vincible ignorance is, in Catholic ethics, a moral or doctrinal matter that could have been removed[clarification needed] by diligence reasonable to the circumstances. It contrasts with invincible ignorance, which can not be removed at all, or only by supererogatory efforts (e.g. exceptionally remote location). While invincible ignorance prevents a sinful action from being a sin, vincible ignorance at most mitigates it. Ignorance stemming from making little or no effort is termed crass or supine; it removes little or no guilt. Ignorance may be Of law, when one is unaware of the existence of the law itself, or at least that a particular case is comprised under its provisions.Of fact, when not the relation of something to the law but the thing itself or some circumstance is unknown.Of penalty, when a person is not cognizant that a sanction has been attached to a particular crime. They're Autistic--and They're in Love: Magazine Lindsey Nebeker and Dave Hamrick each used to wonder if they’d ever find lasting love. Here’s how they came together—and how, side by side, they face the world. There are two bedrooms in the cozy Jackson, Mississippi, apartment: Dave Hamrick’s is like a dad’s den, with a striped beige armchair and a hanging map; Lindsey Nebeker’s is darkly girly, with spiky dried roses hung over a bed topped by a graphic leaf-print quilt. After work on any given evening, Dave and Lindsey are likely to be orbiting the home separately, doing their own thing. An observer might assume the two are amicable, if oddball, roommates. About 1.5 million people in the United States (an estimated one fifth of them are female) have autism, with varying degrees of severity. “I hear a lot of loneliness, sadness and fear among the autistic adults I meet,” says Stephen Shore, author of Beyond the Wall and an internationally recognized expert on autism who has the disorder himself.

Current Cart to Power Grocery Stores Current Cart “Your consumption is production” is the premise behind a new concept called Current Cart by Kitae Pak & Inyong Jung that would turn shopping carts into electricity-generating mobile units. Their hope is that shoppers can power the stores in which they shop by the very act of wandering around the store and shopping. It’s a neat idea, though the cost of manufacturing the carts alone would push back the pay-back period for the investment quite a bit, as the carts and the charge-collection rack would likely be pricey. And we know that harvesting kinetic energy isn’t terribly effective. The designers suggest the carts could collect enough energy to power a store for a month. Interesting idea, but a definitely distant concept. Via Treehugger

Delusion A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary.[1] As a pathology, it is distinct from a belief based on false or incomplete information, confabulation, dogma, illusion, or other effects of perception. Delusions typically occur in the context of neurological or mental illness, although they are not tied to any particular disease and have been found to occur in the context of many pathological states (both physical and mental). However, they are of particular diagnostic importance in psychotic disorders including schizophrenia, paraphrenia, manic episodes of bipolar disorder, and psychotic depression. Definition[edit] Although non-specific concepts of madness have been around for several thousand years, the psychiatrist and philosopher Karl Jaspers was the first to define the three main criteria for a belief to be considered delusional in his 1913 book General Psychopathology.[2] These criteria are: Types[edit] Themes[edit] Diagnosis[edit]

The collection was created as an aid to responsible adults who know their limits (and not to cross them) when it comes to drinking, and not to promote this kind of drinking behavior. You should of course be of legal drinking age if you want to play these games with beer or drinks, but anyone can play these games with non-alcoholic beverages as well. Intrusive thoughts Description[edit] Many people experience the type of bad or unwanted thoughts that people with more troubling intrusive thoughts have, but most people can dismiss these thoughts.[1] For most people, intrusive thoughts are a "fleeting annoyance."[5] London psychologist Stanley Rachman presented a questionnaire to healthy college students and found that virtually all said they had these thoughts from time to time, including thoughts of sexual violence, sexual punishment, "unnatural" sex acts, painful sexual practices, blasphemous or obscene images, thoughts of harming elderly people or someone close to them, violence against animals or towards children, and impulsive or abusive outbursts or utterances.[6] Such bad thoughts are universal among humans, and have "almost certainly always been a part of the human condition".[7] How people react to intrusive thoughts may determine whether these thoughts will become severe, turn into obsessions, or require treatment.
