Polyamorous Relationships Are About More Than Just Couples

Over the past few years, polyamory has become a more widely known term and practice. And perhaps inevitably, certain misconceptions and misunderstandings about what "polyamory" means have become widespread as well. It would be unfortunately difficult to say which among these misunderstandings is the most common, or the most hurtful to polyamorous folks. There has been much talk about "open marriage" and "open relationships" in recent years, with some even paradoxically dubbing non-monogamy "the new monogamy." Because we live in such a monogamy-centered society, it makes sense that many people can only conceive of non-monogamy in what ultimately still amounts to monogamous terms. The unfortunate result of this is that, for those of us in more than one serious and meaningful relationship, the world around us insists on viewing one of those relationships as less valid than the other, especially when one relationship happens to predate others. This Comedienne Turns the Tables on Sex Position Jokes You know the story. I am the oldest— I am the second oldest of five kids, and I’m really close with all my siblings, but I’m especially close with my little brother Sam. My little brother Sam is about ten years younger than me. The thing about Sam is he’s only known me as a comedian. It kind of has shaped my life, being a comedian. I’m very honest. This is how I found out: A couple months ago, my little sister and my little brother were living together at the time, and I walked in on one of the weirder conversations for an older sister to walk in on. Do you guys know what I’m talking about? And he’s laughing, and he’s laughing, and he’s like, “Isn’t that funny? I was like, “Noooo.” I decided, as someone who essentially travels the word and does spoken word, that it’s kind of my responsibility to spread feminist sexual positions. Position number one is a dude going down on a woman. Save your energy. Position number two is a woman riding a dude. Position number three’s my favorite.

19 Ways Of Looking At Queer Life That Made Us Think Differently In 2014 The end of the year is upon us and we'll be spending the last week of 2014 looking back at some of the biggest, best, worst and most inspiring moments and people of the year. One of the things we're the proudest of at Gay Voices is our bloggers. Some are famous, some are ferocious, some are just regular people who have something they want to say to or about the queer community -- but we are grateful for every last person who has shared their opinions with us and thereby allowed us to start important discussions. Below we've gathered portions of 19 of our favorite blogs from 2014. From a look at lesbian sex positions to life as a genderqueer person to a beautiful transgender love story to Executive Editor Noah Michelson's thoughts on dick pics, here are some of the pieces we loved for making us think twice about what it means to be queer... and human. “Sluts are not necessarily sexuel athletes- although many of us do train more than most.

3 Common Complaints About Political Correctness (That Completely Miss the Point) My most (and least) favorite thing about the term “political correctness” is that it’s basically meaningless. It’s become shorthand for saying “Ideas that I happen to find ridiculous are being taken seriously by a lot of people, and it’s ruining this country,” which makes its definition entirely subjective – and therefore arbitrary. For example, a person who’s all for same-sex marriage might scoff at gender-neutral restrooms as political correctness gone too far. Because apparently, political correctness only goes “too far” when it applies to the unfamiliar, the not-often-talked about, the marginal, the stigmatized. The thing is, there is nothing so sacred or precious about language or communication that people can’t seek ways to be sensitive and inclusive about its use. It’s as if people can accept the ways that language has changed already but draw a line the moment they reach a foreign concept. 1. It is, however, a nice thing to do that costs you nothing. 2. 3. Words are a big deal.

Monamorie oder was Sie schon immer über Partnerschaft wissen wollten! « Oxly3 © Gastbeitrag, 05. 09. 2011 oxly akademie: NEIN! Nicht sich trennen, monoamorph für immer zusammenbleiben. Das geht? KLAR! “Moment.” Bis 50.

The Real Reason Fashion Labels Are Failing Plus-Size Women Contrary to public perception, fashion designers do not hate plus-size customers. Full-figured fashion fans have been always been frustrated by the lack of selection from their favorite brands, and I don’t blame them. Clothing manufacturers actually do recognize the buying power of the larger sized shopper, but offering styles in plus is just not that simple. Earlier this year, blogger Chastity Garner boycotted Target for excluding fashion fans in her size range from their latest designer collaboration. I have worked as a technical designer for multiple size ranges for brands that include Lord & Taylor, Coach and many others. To produce full-figured clothing well, it needs to be fit on a fit model that truly represents the customer. A professional fit model’s rate starts around $200/hour. Unfortunately, the fit and budget are not the only challenges. I love asking full-figured fit models where they shop. Curvy girls, treat fashion like dating.
