Alternative search engine removes the most popular sites Google has had the monopoly on search engines for the past decade. The service works in such a way that already popular sites always come up on top, while small companies remain undiscovered on page 10 or even 100, unless they can afford to hire SEO specialists and pander to Google’s algorithms. Now, Million Short is an alternative search engine, which enables users to remove up to the first 1,000,000 Google results, in order to make browsing the web more surprising and give the underdog a fighting chance. To begin, users can install Million Short as their default search engine on their browser. We recently saw another alternative search engine — BrowseU — which helps student users pay off their college loans by giving them a cut of the ad revenue. DocumentCloud Chemistry Powerpoints This page contains links to the PowerPoint presentations that I will be using in class (and some that I no longer use). Though I place them here to give my students 24/7 access, they may also be used by any teacher or student who can benefit from this resource. I have found that it is much easier to incorporate small, topical presentations into my course. Also, I believe that these become more useful to other teachers when I allow you to organize topics as you choose. I am no longer posting these presentations in Flash. I have shifted completely to HTML 5 format, which means that these can now be viewed on mobile devices with HTML 5 enabled browsers, such as iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. iPad users opening the HTML 5 format will be prompted to download iSpring's free viewer for these presentations. The HTML5 presentations also have some nice new features. For people who want the original PowerPoint file, you can download the PowerPoint Slide Show (.ppsx).
