Pendant plus de dix ans, cent cinquante experts ont planché sur le projet, sous la houlette de Nathalie Herschdorfer. Directrice du musée des beaux-arts de Locle en Suisse, cette historienne de l’art spécialisée en photographie a organisé de nombreuses expositions dont « Faire face : la mort du portrait ».
