Sculptures en crayons - Jennifer Maestre When we are talking about pencil, what would you relate to? Maybe you would think about writing or drawing, but there is an artist who really thinks out of the box. She is Jennifer Maestre, a sculptor. Jennifer’s sculptures were inspired by the form and function of the sea urchin. The following are some amazing sculptures of Jennifer we selected. Having grown up near the sea, that is where artist Lia Melia continues to find her inspiration. "The seas moods can always express my deepest feelings," she explains. C’est vraiment impressionnant et je vous invite à jeter un oeil. Depuis 25 ans, Dalton Ghetti exerce avec minutie sa passion. Vu la taille d’une mine de crayon en graphite, on peut dire que cet homme a une patience et une habileté impressionnante. John paints these landscapes onto female models and lights them with a black light. As you can see, the black light really makes them pop! Via: My Modern Metropolis Performance Sand Art - Kseniya Simonova Born in a small town on the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine, Kseniya Simonova has skyrocketed to international stardom following her 2009 win of Ukraine’s Got Talent. Her combination of story telling, sand art, and music has been showcased in over 200 performances over the past 4 years, including locales such as Ukraine, Russia, Norway, Japan, Poland, Austria, China, The United Kingdom, India, Italy, Germany, Kazakhstan, Malta, and others. She performs regularly for presidents, heads of state, and royalty. Since she was a child, Kseniya painted, drew and designed alongside her mother and family. Kseniya would later become a fashion model, though she graduated from higher studies with a degree in medico-psychology. Her devotion to live sand art began when her now-husband Igor discovered her as a model. At first, she tested her art with beach and river sands, which proved difficult to work with over time due to their salinity. In 2009, Simonova presented her first exhibition in sand art.
May 2011 For Nuit Blanche, finding the ideal site is almost as important as the concept of the installation itself. After debating numerous times on the typology of site we were hoping for (jumping between alley ways, open courtyards, sheltered spaces) we found a small parking lot that provides us with qualities from all these types of spaces. Located just off Yonge Street, the site is a small back service area to several apartment and commercial buildings on Temperance Street, directly beside Toronto's "Cloud Gardens". The site provides many opportunities to create flow as well as areas where people can stay and loiter. The layout and plan for the site is still undecided, but it will allow us to shape our project further and design it specifically for our installation space.
Sculpture sur Papier - Calvin Nicholls It was only a matter of time before Calvin Nicholls' life-long passion in art and wildlife combined! The Canadian has been a full-time paper sculpture artist since the mid-1980's. With such a variety of animals in his collection, he's essentially created his own paper zoo. Many of the animal paper sculptures belong in Nicholls' most extensive collection, which includes over 75 pieces for Follett Library Resources in McHenry Illinois. "Initially a rigid form is constructed which establishes the contours of the subject and provides a stable base upon which the detail pieces are attached," Nicholls' says, as he explains his process. Pierres en équilibre - Michael Grab Michael Grab is an artist that has been ‘rock balancing‘ since 2008. Much of his recent work has been done around the Boulder, Colorado area. Grab finds the process both spiritual and therapeutic.
