Circostrada Network The third edition of the Street Arts Winter Academy was organised by FAI AR (the Formation Avancée et Itinérante des Arts de la Rue) in partnership with the University of Winchester, Circostrada Network, and Gledališče Ane Monro. This closed seminar, held on 10-12 March 2013 at La Cité des Arts de la Rue in Marseille (France), gathered European professionals and academics to work on designing a European frame of reference for the training of street artists. In this publication Circostrada Network offers a summary of the discussions that were held on ways to structure the transmission of skills within this artistic sector, as well as two texts highlighting experiences of frames of reference in other artistic sectors. The Green Club Project Digital edition prepared by Greg Phillips Download the build instructions (zipped PDF format, 644 kiB) Les instructions de construction en français (656 kiB, traduction par Monique Campeau Roy.) The Green Club is a unique, home-made juggling club constructed primarily of recycled materials. It juggles nearly as well as any club on the market and better than some. It is reasonably durable and costs almost nothing. For many years the instructions for making this wonderful club were available only in the form of a booklet that Jon sold for a nominal fee. What are you waiting for? If you’re visually inclined, or confused by the printed instructions, have a look at Jeremy’s step-by-step photo tutorial. History of the Green Club Project A personal note from Jonathan Poppele Home-made clubs are nothing new, nor is making clubs from pop bottles. The Green Club project sprang out of juggling workshops for children I was running in 1998. The Digital Edition A personal note from Greg Phillips
How to Make Leather Juggling Balls These are Peter Billam's suggestions for making the most personal and the prettiest juggling balls in the universe. The dodecahedral pattern is how balls were made in ancient Greece. Modern footballs are made in a similar way, though they have more faces and are reinforced with a bladder inside. These balls as I make them are stuffed with linseed and don't bounce; I'm not sure how well they would stand up to being used in a bat-and-ball game as I've never tried - in my opinion they're far too beautiful to be hit around in the dirt. They are vulnerable to sharp objects, and to moisture. The patterns are written in Postscript. Muscript is my music typesetting program, which produces Postscript output I use Muscript to typeset my own musical compositions and arrangements All the logo gifs and background gifs for my web site are from Postscript originals. Leather Leather is available tanned in all sorts of bright colours, or you can use your old boot-leather for an extra-personal set. Sewing
