Photographs from the Golden Age of Jazz The Library of Congress Music Division, Library of Congress Search by Keyword | Browse by Name | Subject | Venue The William P. Gottlieb Collection, comprising over sixteen hundred photographs of celebrated jazz artists, documents the jazz scene from 1938 to 1948, primarily in New York City and Washington, D.C. In 1938 Gottlieb began working for the Washington Post, where he wrote and illustrated a weekly jazz column--perhaps the first in a major newspaper. The mission of the Library of Congress is to make its resources available and useful to Congress and the American people and to sustain and preserve a universal collection of knowledge and creativity for future generations. The Library of Congress presents these documents as part of the record of the past. Albert Ayler If you like the reocities.com project you can donate bitcoins to: 1E8rQq9cmv95CrdrLmqaoD6TErUFKok3bF by Jeff Schwartz This book is my attempt, as of 1992, to assemble the information available on the life of Albert Ayler. My dissertation: New Black Music: Amiri Baraka and Jazz in the 1960s, incorporates this new information and contextualizes Ayler's music much more thoroughly than this biography and appreciation. Note that the footnote links in Chapters 2, 3, and 4 do not work. My main sourse for this material is the chapter on Albert Ayler in Valerie Wilmer's As Serious As Your Life (London, 1977). Acknowledgements I would like to thank the following for their contributions to this project: John and Kitty Case, Tosiyuki Nomato, John Gray of the Black Arts Research Center, Jeff Keith, Erik Raben, Ron L. Note The format of this book was inspired largely by a number of oral histories, especially Nat Shapiro and Nat Hentoff's Hear Me Talkin' to Ya. Table of Contents Chapter 1: 1936-1963

Radio Jazz Plus | La Jazz Radio De Smooth Jazz Sans Frontières Introduction to Eric Dolphy Discography The discography is provided in several parts: Stimulated by the Freedom of Sound Festival over May 30-31 2014 presented by Seed Artists, a major revision has been made to this discography. You can follow the links to each set of tracks by clicking on . Depending on your browser, the track info should load and in many cases the tracks will load. You may need to play (and then stop) the track before one that hasn't loaded in order to load the next one.Peter Roberts' version of the discography is available on his own site. This version is relatively plain but is in the standard form, useful for research. Acknowledgements The following attempt at a complete discography is for the purpose of keeping track of what I have and do not have as far as Eric's recordings. I have also placed a Booker Little discography right next door. I look forward to continuing to modify this discography if other people will let me know where it is wrong and what additions should be made. or Dolphy mailing list
