Det går inte att bara säga till eleverna att de ska skriva utan jag måste undervisa dem om hur texten ska se ut och hur de skriver den på engelska. Jag utgår från genrepedagogik och cirkelmodellen när det gäller att träna eleverna i tal och i skrift. Jag tycker att det bästa är om du kan samarbeta med svenskläraren så att du på engelsklektionerna skriver samma texttyp som de arbetar med i svenskan. Mina elever som har svårt för att skriva börjar väldigt enkelt. Jag skulle säga att mallen, Personal Narrative, nedan fungerar redan från år 4. När eleverna har kommit längre i sin skrivutveckling använder jag en mer utvecklad mall som de också tar del av hemma och iförväg. Vilka härliga samtal det blir, eleverna emellan! Grundupplägget är att de får börja med några flervalsalternativ. Vilken mening av dessa fyra är korrekt? Därefter följer en mening som ska översättas från svenska till tyska. Slutligen får en från varje grupp skriva gruppens variant på tavlan, varpå vi ser vilka skillnader som finns och jag som lärare kommenterar och korrigerar eventuella fel. Old, old chestnuts I know, but.............the most recurrent problems I have with students are (1) present perfect vs past simple and (2) 'going to' vs 'will'. Any hot tips?? John Wright There are a number of ways of dealing with these tricky grammar distinctions, and a lot will depend on the level and needs of the students, their learning style, your institutional demands (e.g. whether the distinction is to be tested in a forthcoming exam), and finally, your own personal theories of language learning. Will vs Going To Option 1 Ignore it completely, especially at lower levels. The difference between will and going to (not to mention other ways of expressing futurity) is so subtle that it cannot be easily conveyed through rules or isolated examples.
