Fresh Corn Salsa with Baked Chili Lime Tortilla Chips - The Healthy Maven Every time I pick up a piece of corn, I am reminded of how grateful I am that I no longer have braces. For real, this thought passes through my head and is not at all out of the ordinary. I am someone who experiences very frequent deja vu. If you catch me staring up at the ceiling (I look up when I’m thinking) completely dazed out, I am likely reliving a memory of the past rather than daydreaming about the future. As much as I would like to forget the far too many years I had braces, I was unfortunately (or fortunately?)

Homemade Energy Drink I started out with the intention of coming up with a recipe for a homemade version of the store bought energy drinks, but after doing some research and discovering how unhealthy they are for you, I decided instead to try and design a less sugar/caffeine fueled way to help myself through the workday afternoon sleepy slump. What I landed on was a system of three drinks and some energy boosting ideas that are going a long way to helping me keep my energy up all day long! Here's the good on the drinks: The Fire Hydrant (left) - 3-4 8oz glasses throughout the day filtered water 1 slice lemon 1 pinch cayenne pepper Other than getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night, staying hydrated is the most important thing you can do to help keep your body functioning at optimum levels.

Potato Skin Burger I once made a burger with essentially a french fry as the bun. It came out pretty good but it wasn't as amazing as I had hoped. I recently was out with a friend and they came up with the idea of using potato skins as the buns of a burger and my brain just said yes! This is what I was supposed to do instead of fries! The thing about the skins is that there is a pocket area that the juices of the burger can get trapped and absorbed whereas on a french fry the juices just run right off onto your plate. Also it means lots of cheese bacon and sour cream.
