Creating dynamic videos using JavaScript and After Effects: the basics In digital marketing, there is a lot of buzz around dynamic videos. You may have noticed all the start-ups popping up in this scene. Dynamic is nothing new in the world of display advertising. What's dynamic video anyway? There are a lot of (buzz) words flying around: interactive video, dynamic video, personalized video etc. To me, a video becomes dynamic when a specific video is rendered, pre-rendered or on-the-fly, for a specific context. I'm aware that these definitions are both pretty technical. One of the advantages of creating a dynamic video is that you don't have to spend a lot of money on production when you want to change a specific part of your video. Let's create a dynamic video Enough with the definitions. In this example, we are using a funny TV commercial by Vodafone. In this post, we'll add a section at the end of the video, showing a nice personalized offer for an iPhone 6. Create the data model We want to show a specific proposition at the end of the video. That's it.
Redesigning SoundCloud — Adventures in Consumer Technology 2. The Stream This is where songs and playlists posted by people you follow appear, with the newest at the top, like Twitter’s Timeline. Problems It’s hard to discern which song is playing. Other than the small play/pause buttons, there’s no styling, highlighting or emphasis to distinguish the current song from the others. Only three to five songs are visible at once. The Stream doesn’t automatically scroll. The avatars on the waveform are virtually meaningless. Reloading the Stream is slow and clunky. Solution concept The active song is clearly indicated by its expanded size, large artwork and visible waveform. There is an option to have the Stream automatically scroll as it plays through. It’s clear, judging by the amount of playbacks to comments, that most users aren’t commenting. The buttons to download, like, repost, comment, add-to-playlist and share are replaced by icons. I mentioned earlier that I want to learn more about the artists I’m hearing and discover new ones.
